Hi all, I just set my first real trapline today and I can not sleep because I am so excited to to check it. I figured I would go trapping since I cant deer hunt anymore. As I was setting my traps I realized that I was enjoying that as much as I had enjoyed deer hunting. It feels good to be able to make a little noise in the woods if I feel like it, and not have to worry about scaring deer away. It also feels good not have to put my clothes in scent proof bag every time I go in and out of my car. I think trapping is a little less stressful. Its funny how once I started setting traps How similar it is to deer hunting. Looking for natural funnels(smaller ones) and just looking for sign in general. I set all of my traps today in hopes for mink. I think that is going to be my target species.(because I can actually set 110,s) I have a 3-30 and a 220 but I have a heck of a time getting them set. I put out a bunch of blind sets using the 110s and some #1 coil springs. I feel very good about a couple sets. I hope the mink dont mind that I didnt dye and wax these:confused:. anyways I hope I will be posting some pictures real soon. :chillin:

Also, there is nothing like "hunting" in mutiple places 24 hrs a day either.

Good luck on your trapline

Good luck on your trapline!! I wouldn't worry too much about the wax and dye for blind sets on muskrats and mink. I've been trapping these two species since i was 12 in the ditches behind our house with nothing more than 2 dozen old semi-rusty conibear and half-a-dozen 1 and 1 1/2 coilsprings. I don't get as many as the other guys in the area that trap miles and miles of stream with lots of gear but i get a decent amount.

As you said it's more to just be out there looking for that one funnel or run-way that you're sure will yield a critter in the morning.
