Aaron, was hoping to go Friday sometime. Gonna have to make some calls I guess. Thinking LSC will be pretty shakey by the weekend also. Next time try jigging the smallest silver /blue cleo you can get your hands on........thinking it was 1/8th oz   tipped with a minnow. Has worked very well in the past. ;)

There is no ice in 75% of the harbor here in Sanilac.
Makes it good for a goose guru like myself though. ;)
Have not heard much about Lexington, a lot of guys fishing with little success. This warm weather and all the movement I am sure the water is going to be plenty cloudy.

Yeah Im sure with this wind the water will probaly be cloudy up there. If and this is a big if the only ice that might be safe in Lexington would be the area right in front of the boat launch.I would be very leary of any ice right now though.

We went up yesterday. There was a little more ice in Lexington than there was in Port Sanilac but nothing I would feel comfortable venturing out on. It was too windy to fish off of the piers yesterday.
If the wind stays calm, you might have a shot at the open water.:)

Thanks tangleknot. Seems to me you tested the ice up there a couple years back.:hide: Hmmm......maybe I should leave that one alone,eh.;)
Did the northeast inside of the harbor have ice or was it open ?

Joe lexington is bubbling again.I actualy though the bubbling would improve the fishing there but it hasnt so far.We stuck a camera down there and didnt see any fish around the bubbles.

I surf fished today up in the thumb, and on the way there I stopped by Sanilac. It was almost entirely open. I wish I would have known, I would have brought the longer net and fished there.:bash: All I caught surfin' was a whitefish. (snagged in the head...he went back) The water was filthy out there along the entire shoreline. Looks like it's gonna take a week of cold nights to freeze the harbors back up.:(

Lol, yeah some things you never live down.;)
From Salmonous's report, it sounds like a lot more of the harbor has opened up. Yesterday, the North side of the harbor was wide open from the East end of the pier all of the way to the beach. We could have fished from the beach inside the harbor but 4 kids casting in those winds would have been a little scary. The pier was out of the question.

Well catching a whitefish is better than nothing.
I fished the river today for a while and didnt catch anything.Nothing new there though.

There still has ice from the boat ramp and around the back but the louth is open.Ice is still firm but theres alot of holes covered by snow. Its pretty dangerous because of all the hole coverd with snow. The ice is still firm 5 inches.Water is murky with a visability about 2-3 feet.A friend lost brown today.Minnows were the hot bait.
