Duckman,
This is Craig, Not 6" to 8", 2" to 6" would be more like it. Lots of guys are getting out, but you still need to use care. I heard today that Chippawa had good ice on E. bay but the rest was pretty iffy. There are a couple of lakes around Leroy that guys are'nt fishing yet Center and Sunrise, I havent heard of anyone going out to far on these. Rose Lake is the best, their catching Pike Crappies and a few Walleye.

Thanks Craig, didn't realize your on this site! I guess I will have to go up and chance it. I'll bring the chainsaw along so if the ice is too thin, I'll cut some trees down that I would have to do in the spring anyway so it won't be a wasted trip.
I'm eager to fish a couple of those lakes you have told me about before.
Any plans for Ice fishing tournaments at your place?
Any good spec lakes near Evart, Sears,& your place?
Thanks for the reports.

You'll find fishable lakes when you come up. As far as the Crappies, its getting so there are Crappies is most of the lakes. Chippawa, Rose, McCoy, Diomond and Hicks are a few. If I haven't given you a map with all the lakes on them ask for one when you stop in and I'll show you all the lakes that are available to fish. I've thought about a ice tournament but there's to many private lakes and ponds that have monster Gills and Crappies, that it just wouldn't be fair for everyone. See you soon.

I would not even try hicks. I went there last week friday and there is very little ice. Two hits with the spud and it went right through. And with this warmer temps since then and rain i dont think it would be very good. Just wanted to warn you all.

Yes, they have been fishing Penasol. Their catching some real nice gills. Just like all the lakes you need to use care. Last night it made it to 20, this should help a little. Hoping we don't get much snow.

Rose Lake has been giving up some nice Pike lately. I talked to a couple of guys that caught 7 from 26" to 29" Wed.
Diamond Lake has some big Pike in it too, and doesnt get fished much. There are some big Gills to be had there too.

Hicks lake has 5-6inches of ice right now. There is 3-4inches of good clear/blue ice, then 3-4inches of slush ice, top that off with a little slush and snow.
