NOTE: Muskrat lake is between DeWitt and St. Johns. Its West of 127 and East of Grand Ledge. It's approx 20 minutes North of Lansing.
Everyone seems to want to know what the ice is like so I figured I'd throw in my $0.02.
I stopped by Muskrat lake on my way home from work to check the ice and see if I could make it out for a lil fishing. I took a cordless drill with a 1" bit and a measuring tape to see how deep the ice seemed to be before I packed up everything and headed for the lake.
The ice had an inch or two of decent "soft ice" or "hard slush" on top of 4-6" or so of ice. A couple places were as low as 4", but 5-6 seemed to be the norm.
Also, there were 2 guys on snow-mobiles out on the lake that hadn't killed themselves yet so it couldn't be too bad.
Hope this helps any other peeps out there.
