I just got a Mr. Buddy portable heater and was wondering where the best place to put it in my portable One-man shelter would be. Frabill makes a pair of hooks that hang from the support poles of a shelter. I was thinking of haning it in my shelter from a set of those. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You want it at foot level. Heat rises. Get it to close to the ceiling and you won't have a shanty for long.

I have the big buddy and a frabil triplex. the heater works great but after awhile it melts the ice making a little puddle in front of the heat even with the fan on.

put mine on the ice in between my two fishing holes against the front of the flipped over shanty, vex to the left.

I have a frabill ultralight one man flipover. I put my Mr Buddy in the sled behind my bucket or seat. Just have to turn it off or be careful when opening the shanty with it hot.

Just remember...that heat rises out of both those items....get it too close to the side or if hanging to the top.....and next thing you know...your patching it!! :bash:

Just use my Mr. heater for the first time last week. Fishing out of a 2 man fish trap on a windy day put flat on the ice. Problem: wind kept blowing heater off. Put up on 5 gal. bucket, no problem. If you hang on your support poles the wind will cause the safety to shut it off. As stated before, keep as low to the ice as possible.

Thats why I switched back to the mr. heater-heater/cooker !! More heat and the wind never bothers it....just more dependable in my book! I like the more heat because in the bigger 2-3 man flip style shanties the buddy just doesn't do it !! I use it up north mastly and when it is 10 below without the windchill...you NEED HEAT !!

In my fishtrap I either set it behind me on the seat rails and lean it against the back or in front of me against the door.

Thanks for all the suggestions. How close to the sides can I place the Mr. Buddy Heater? I see it has slots to mounton a wall, but does that mean I can place the back against my shelter and be OK?
