My dog went squirrel hunting this morning

I took my dog with me today to get the morning coffee and when I got back and parked the car, the dog was sniffing around and i was just standing there enjoying the morning, when this squirrel literally fell out of the tree above my dog and landed about a foot away from her, then took off like a shot with my dog about 3 feet behind it, leash in tow. Luckily she treed it relatively close to the car so i didn't have to chase her half way across the county. Guess my lab is a squirrel dog now!

Do you have a squirrel dog? I love hunting my MT. Cur. It really puts a fun angle on squirrel hunting.

No squirrel dog here, but there's a guy on the site who lives north of me.......can't remember his name right now.......who has a Treeing Fiest and I hunted with him a year ago, as well as a bit of experience when I was a kid.

My old lab loves to hunt squirrels. She chases but won't stay on the tree or follow them thru the tops. We were coming out from duck hunting one day and the young guys were 30 years ahead of me. They stopped and were laughting at her.
Glen says "Your dog is something else. Now she is treeing squirrels."
Me "Why didn't ya shoot it for her."
Glen "It went in a hole."
Me "Good thing you didn't as it wouldn't have looked good in you dnr records that you got arrested for shooting a squirrel with out hunter orange.
He was an assistant park manager at the time

I live in cental michigan and love to hunt squirrel with dogs I have Feist and L.H. Ladner bred Blackmouth Curs. The BMC will also tree coon. Once a person hunts a time or 2 with a real good squirrel dog they get hooked.
