I will be in Eastport for 12/25 and 12/26. Does anyone know how the ice is or how the fishing is on any of the inland lakes. Interested in Six mile Lake or Ellsworth lake unless someone has a better suggestion.

Well, there was anywhere from 3-6 inches of ice on some of the lakes up here, but it all depended on which lakes. Then we had wind, and heavy snow...as of last week, when I checked around just before the weekend, both lakes you mentioned were still dangerous, due to currents, etc., in those lakes. Some folks were out on Clam Lake, south part of Intermediate, and north arm of Lake Bellaire, but those were folks who risk their necks every year on Bellaire and Intermediate. Best bet would have been Clam and probably south part of Skegemog.

Then we started to get this thaw, along with more wind. At this point I'm not sure I'd trust any of the lakes up here. But conditions change from one day to the next, if you're coming up, perhaps it will get colder and the lakes will stiffen up. But as I look out the window at 7 a.m., the thermometer says 36 degrees, so I wouldn't count on anything right now.

Not much going on, anyway. A few panfish and a pike or two, nothing worth drowning for.
