The ice is melting...the ice is melting.
It's 41 degrees here and the water is pouring off my roof. No ice fishing until we get some more cold weather here in Illinois.

It's warming up,but I'm not sweating it.It's only a little above freezing and below it at night. It's only going to last two days and by SUnday they're saying back below freezing.
I'm glad to see some snow go...makes for better ice!

I'll be fishing on Monday :)

The short melt is helping the ice in some areas by melting the excess snow to water, filling in the gaps, and then refreezing into real ice. Too much cover snow hinders formation of safe ice.

Even with the little rain we got did not hurt the ice at all.
I was 100 yards out from the boat launch.Had my tape measure
with me & measured the ice,5 inches thick, their was a guy on a snowmobile
zipping back & forth on the lake.Looked like he was having fun.If its only
5 inches at the boat launch you know its only 2 inches in other area's.
I'll wait a little longer to bring out the the wheeler! ;)

There was more ice today than there was last weekend, at least on the lake I fished(Kensington "area"). I stayed until 230pm, the top was just startin' to get a lil' soft.

It is warm, and it was raining. I was hoping to do a christmas day fish here on Lake Fenton with a freind but IDk..My dads a littler worried about it but i think its good. (i'm fishing Lake Fenton, SE) We seen a guy out there this morning with a 4 wheeler at about or depth. I hope it's still good. Just found a spot!
