I was just wondering if someone could pm me on how the rabbit hunting is down in point mouillee. I am unable to get up north to do some and am thinking about heading down there early saturday morning.

I'm curious about that too. Also if steel shot is required down there. I guess I could look in the book. Just a little lazy right now.

We've run our dogs on birds down there, ran into some rabbit hunters a couple times. They've always come out empty handed, but have said they've jumped one or two. Steel must be used, we were checked last weekend for both license and shot. I had thought steel was only needed for waterfowl but the CO said it was required for phez and rabbit also. Good luck, we'll possibly be there Sat. morning, although very close to the road, having knee surgery in 10 hours:sad: .

I have hunted in Pt. Mouliee since I first started hunting I used to live in Flat Rock and my brother used to live in Newport. So have many days in field there. There are times when you see alot of Rabbits we have gotten 3-4 in day with no dogs. We have also ran into some woodcock/timberdoodles in the area as well. The DNR just made the law last year I believe that all weland area you must use steel shot this is including small game and waterfowl.
