well,
i wish i could say it was good...... but i can't.ice was 4"+-in somewhat shallow (4-5') in front of all of those old spiles (right of the breakwall.)
water was dirty but i could see my chartruse (sp?) on the bottom. fish came in waves which were full of dinks (shocker huh) but i did manage to ice a few 7-8" fish which i put back. they really liked a chrome russian spoon with red on the bottom and a red jenson egg. i gave up after a couple hours to do some odds and ends around the house. there were allot of shanty's roughly 300 yards farther out into the bay that never moved in the couple hours i was there. i just did not feel like making the walk. did anyone see the jackpole with the plow truck! he must care more about racing his laydown sled than he cares about a $10,000.00 vehicle (plus fines.) hope you all did better than i.

I also fished the Fair Haven area on sunday morning for about 3 hours. Released at least 300 small fish to keep 35 between 8 and 10 inches. Four feet of water to the left of the launch. Started with a firetiger rapala with a red bead and then switched to a yellow and orange spoon with a black dot and a red jensen egg so I could get back up and down faster to weed through the smaller fish.

EV, I wish I'd have known you were there. I could have thrown a fish at you  I fished near the second canal to the right of the ramp, along with everybody else. Took home a dozen, only fished for a couple of hours.
Sat outside on a bucket because I was too lazy to drag my Fish Trap out of the basement. I thought my son's shanty would block most of the wind. It didn't and it turned into an uncomfortable morning. Should be out there again Saturday morning. This time in a blue cocoon.

Don't worry about the pickup He stopped at the gas station and put extra air in the tires. @ 100 psi he could drive on 2 inches.
Well I don't believe my eyes. I went out sunday morning, second or third man on the ice. I brought a few buddies and fished in line with blue water bait and tackle and in line with the middle of the grassy island in the blue clam. We were there until 12 or so which would make about 5 hours. NOT ONE FRICKIN BITE:rant: ! We decided to take the buckets out and head south near where everyone else was at. That didn't work! We must have tried 30 different combinations on the ends of our lines...and nothing. Best yet, my buddy said, "I can't wait to look at the forum and see everyone posting that they slammed em' after we left." I know there wasn't any massive amount of perch comming out, but what time did yall catch em lol! This same spot brought both of us our limit a few days earlier.
As for the guy in the truck, he had us watching the whole time....wondering how thick the ice he was on truly was. I know for a fact we were only on 3-3.5.

I was out there-way to the west-past Jiggers towars the mouth of the Creeks over there-went through up to my knees while I was watching that idiot in the plow truck trying to be a hero for them obnoxious snow mobilers that will soon be out there in mass numbers!
anyway-set up in 2 feet of water-nonstop one after another-seen alot of nice perch-but them dinks were just too fast! Brought home about 30-40 good keepers and alot of fish that I was really scratching my head at wondering why in the %^* I ever kept that!
If I could have force feed them with the spear I would have had a bucket full of jumbos

sorry to disapoint you mike:lol: . i didn't have my two way radio to call any members. i am suprised at what a difference a couple hundred feet can make when it comes to these dang perch. i was going to move when i stopped seeing the dinks but i was just too lazy. i am also planning on being out there this saturday so maybe i'll see some of you guys out there. the rocket scientist with a full size truck on 3.5" of ice will hopefully be there for our intertainment.

that ice is plenty thick for a truck but im not to sure i would park them side by side in rows of 30. i cant wait untill they get a good track going out there so we can bring the drag sleds out, but for now i will stick to my little inland lake slaying the nice gills a crappies. ;)

One of my friends who will go un-named, claims that a wrist rocket and playdough really convinces the ice shanty slalom riders to go ride some where else. I haven't tried this yet but I think it might be effective.

OK The original report on fishing and what was happening on the ice was great. Unfortunately this thread has reached it's end. NOW get out and fish :)
