Is it safe to walk around the point to get into the marina? How thick is the ice? Ant perch being caught? Im thinking of heading out there Thursday and would like to know if its safe or if I should wait longer. I have two weeks off for Christmas, and Ill be on the hunt for perch:D
The point is the point coming from the DNR launch
Thanks Brian

A guy fell through there at the mouth yesterday. The ice at the mouth is always screwy due to the current wrapping arounbd the wall - in and out, as well as a sandbar.
You go first...

Sunday morning we were the first ones out of the DNR launch and tried several different routes of getting in. We had no luck and fell through several times. The surrounding ice isn't that good yet, and the ice in front is very weak and spotty still. I'm thinking it's going to need one more cold night to get in there, and even then I would walk fast over that first 100 feet by the end. Be safe and don't try it by yourself.

Once the lake is covered w/ice FORGET BEACON'S COVE!!!!!!!!!! It's not holding fish like it used to anyways... It's not worth a wet butt...

Drove by there today, had to drop something off in the office, not looking all that safe...the warmer temps and rain later this week will probably make it a bust for a while...Be safe always before venturing out there...fishing reports have not been all that great there anyways of late
