Guys and Gals
Heading to kalamazoo for Christmas Holiday and looking to get out on the 26th for a morning of rabbit hunting. Does anyone have some insight to some local areas? No dogs, just my father and brother. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I live in K-zoo, there is quite a bit of state land in the area. Gourdneck Game area being the most popular. I don't really know about the rabbits though, never hunt for them. Gourdneck is very large w/ many access points, Center St., Vanderbilt Rd., Hogset Lk area. It's actually more in the Portage area which borders K-zoo to the south. You probably won't see another soul out there either, that land gets pretty quiet this time of year, only your die hard deer hunters this time of year, guys like me! Good Luck

I'm assuming you don't have access to private land. I'd suggest you head to the Gourdeneck SGA. Use the access point on U Avenue between Oakland Drive and Portage Road. There are some rabbits, lots of brush piles.

Thanks guys.
I grew up in the area and all my hunting grounds I had as a kid are all subdivisions now.
I will check out the Gourdneck.

I used to hunt Gourdneck all the time in the fall but I was mostly out there for the squirrels. The area I used to get the most rabbits was at the second access. If you take Angling rd south off of W Center and then take Vanderbuilt rd until it makes its second turn back east, there is an access off there that is back in the woods, it's hard to find, but its back there. Just park in the circle area and head for the swampy area, you should do good back there.
Good luck,
Greg
