I've only seen russian hooks back in the late 80's, and they were all perch tear drops, which we used on drummond island, a russian hook is a hook that for lack of a better description, looks more like the letter c, it has a wide gap unlike a traditional hook, to be honest your best bet would be to go to a flyfishing shop if you make your own, I do a lot of fly fishing, and as a result spend lots of time tying, and I've found that caddis hooks are very similar tto a russian hook, its probably the closest you'll come to finding them, are you planning on making your own teardrops?

Rabbott, if your talking about the same russian hook that I am the company that made them was the Art Best Tackle Company. I think they went out of business, not sure I will do some investing at the local bait shop to see what I can find out.:D

Are you talking the russian jigging spoons, hook is soldered on the spoon?
http://www.swimwhizz.com/ice_fishing/russian_hooks.htm

My grandpa and dad used to use these types of spoons. Back in the day, tin cans, old toasters, etc. were the material of choice for making them. I have a can of old ones around somewhere that my dad gave me.

they are available through best tackle in several shops in the area. lakeside, metro beach party store,k.d. sports, and selfridge sports all have them.jack and marks hooks, which are bent russians are also available. ficious who lives in washington township also makes them. ficiousjigs.com. i have been on a mission to find a green smiley face russion all season.i have searched all over but none yet.they go fast and are my go to perch spoon when the fish are in the hole sight fishing.

They are a single hooked jigging spoon with a bead at the top of the hook where it meets the spoon. There are a lot of lures that are made close to what they were/are but they were a little heavier than most of the imitations you can find now which makes for a different presentation. Thanks everyone
