Wow. Is the bait business that bad in the Muskegon area? You'd think that would be a good business. How cool would it be to own a bait shop. I think their prob is both them and Dusk Till Dawn also try to sell a VERY slim selection of overpriced gear. They pay for it from a distributor and it sits on the shelves and never sells.
What they need is a bar that sells bait. Now that would go over well. :)

I manage a couple retail businesses for the company I work for - not our core business, just a side line. From my whopping one year of experience, I have trouble figuring out how the smaller bait shops survive. If I'm the average customer, my spending is generally under $10/visit. How many customers does it take to cover cost of goods sold, utilities, taxes, wages, rent or mortgage, state licenses, etc.?? Then you think about times like now when pretty much nobody is fishing - too much ice for the boat, not enough to walk on, and see that business could be tough.

Dusk to Dawn closed due to Illness. There's a new small shop by Hartshore Marina called "What about Bob" they have a deli, beer and soda. During the summer I was in there and they have a small tackle section. Sign says they have bait also but I've never bought any there. Easy access for people with atv's ice fishing.
