Has anyone ever accidentlly loaded thier muzzleloader twice. A double load??
I can see how it could happen. I mark my ramrod so it doesnt happen to me. Just wondred if anyone has or know of anyone that has and possiblly shot it that way. Im sure that pressure could have really bad results!!

My buddy Frank did it last week. He shoots 110 gr of American Pioneer powder and a 300 gr Hornady SST bullet. He got to talking while loading and put in 220 gr of powder. Only one bullet though. Nocked his glasses off and cut his nose. Missed the target at 100 yards. The gun is a stainless, laminated Omega. Gun is no worse for the wear, just Franks pride.

well it wasnt a double load but may as well have been,, i took my 12ga b/p to north carolina 2 yrs ago to turkey hunt well the guy calling for me called in the biggest tom i have ever seen in the wild, but instead of putting in 80gr of powder i put in a load for deer 130 gr but we where talking while i was loading and just didnt pay much attention well this big old tom comes in and i shoot while he is about 25 yrds well i hit him but since i had the poly choke on full with that load it stayed pretty tight and even though i hit him i got more feathers than head, and he made a heck of a get away, they even took out there dog to try and track him but he escaped with a few less feathers and that was it,, this past spring at 35 yrds i took a tom with the 80gr and he flopped twice and was done so i guess lesson learned...

Never done it myself, but I was with a guy who double loaded his T/C Hawken.
When he touched it off, it was quite obvious he had a double load ! Quite a blast ! and he said his shoulder hurt for some reason . I miked his barrel and compared it to my Hawken. The barrel had not even bulged. I don't know about the strength of some of the newer mz's , but those heavy octagon American steel T/C barrels are almost indestructable. I watched a test with these barrels where engineers were trying to blow one apart. They had to load about 300 grns of bp with three 400 grn bullets to destroy one. Amazing ! Don't try this at home , at least not IN the house ! :tdo12:
