Haven't made up my mind as to what waters I'll be hitting. Probably some smaller ones as I think the water levels are still quite high.

Oscoda. Made the reservations at the KOA last month. (Got my favorite spot.) Plus, it's a "no-kid" weekend. I guess my mother-in-law is good for something after all. The only downer is that I won't be able to get a head start on all of the traffic. I'll be right in the thick of it. :^(
Hopefully the fishing will be good. We need an offshore wind, for sure.

I'm heading to Oscoda also, but I probably won't fish much. I might try to dead drift some crayfish patterns below Foote for smallmouth.I don't know if the season is even open so if it isn't I'll just say that I'm looking for steelhead smolt:-)(I am "C&R"ing anyways so I guess it doesn't really matter)

I think it opens saturday?

BTW, while trying to find an unoccupied stretch of the au sable river for steelheading, (an exercise in futility) I ended up way behind the airport. It was pretty far back in the trails off of rhea. Anyhow, we got as far back as we could take a vehicle, then hiked another 1/2 mile to a HUGE swamp/backwater. I don't know what it's like now, but a month ago when we walked along the edge, we could see a bunch of smallies. Also, there was a little sunken boat. Ever been there?

Steve-
I am heading to the Upper branches of the Paw Paw I.E. the west, the east, and the north, as well as the upper dowagiac rivers and creeks. I hear that the brown drake is already starting around my area and the dowagiac is gets a great hatch! I am also bringing my friend from Lansing over to enjoy the weekend and do some fly fishing. Anyways gotta ty some nymphs and streamers incase the water level rises high again. See ya' on the river.

MPsteelheader, sound interesting. I'm trying to find some waters where the water levels aren't ridiculously high this weekend.

Steve,

If you don't mind sticking around here for the weekend you might want to try Paint Creek. I think the water should be safe enough to wade soon unless we get more rain. I am planning on trying this afternoon and will post a report in the paint creek section if I do get a chance to go. I am taking a half day today at work since it looks like rain all weekend long. Figures, we finally get a long weekend and the sun goes away. Oh Well!

Steve, Most of the water in the Northern Lower is in really good shape!!!!!! They didn't get as much rain as the southern rivers. I can tell ya that the Rifle is slightly up and slightly stained(Perfect for streamers!!!) The South Branch of the Ausable is good as well as the Main Branch and the North Branch of the Ausable.
I'm assuming that the Man. and Big Man will alright as well.
Good luck
BTW I have made a sudden change in my plans!! I will be fishing the South Branch of the Ausable Sunday! I will probably just catch a bunch of canoes.

I will be in Ann Arbor for my son's U-10 soccer tournament. Supposed to be cold, rainy and windy. Can hardly wait. Yippee...
Did that sound at all sincere? I was trying...really. Hockey rinks are warmer.
Have fun fishing and hunting and staying warm and dry.

Well I had a change of plans too and hit the Sable river. What a hidden gem. Saturday found me alone on the water with no canoes to fight either. Pictures and probably a new log page to follow, or maybe not.... don't know if I want to tell everyone about this one.
