League registration for winter leagues at Archery Unlimited Inc. in Grand Rapids is currently underway. Leagues start the first full week of January. League shooting will occur every night for varying skill levels. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday are handicap NFAA 5-spot leagues. These nights are of same skill, just spread out to accomodate your schedule. Tuesday night is the scratch league. No handicap 3spot Fita/Vegas round scoring. 75% of competitors for this night are considered PRO and shoot in the PRO classes during competition. It's a fun night just to watch as shooters from as far as Lansing come to shoot THIS league on THIS night.
Friday nights are basically an IOWA and Vegas warm up. 3-spot Fita target face, but only the dime sized supers are worth 10 as opposed to the X ring. This is the scoring format they use for the IOWA shoot.
At the end of the league season, the top three archers from all nights will compete for the overall league championship. Those shooting handicap nights will still have their handicaps to use against those who shoot Tuesday and Friday nights. Just to put it in perspective...a PRO has not won the League championship in several years. What you win is a BIG trophy and mad bragging rights for ever.
At the conclusion of the league we have a catered banquet and raffle of a brand new bow of winners choice. Everyone is given a single ticket so everyone has the same odds of winning. With bows like the APEX and APEX 7, PRO Elite, Ultra Elite being offered from Mathews and Hoyt this could equal up to a 1400.00 prize.
