I headed out to the muskegon last Wed. with my buddy John and his son Nate. The morning started off with a few bumps. My shifting cable froze and the shifting mechanism fell apart. I was in the middle of the river just down from the launch. So I rowed to shore and got the guys out. I dragged the boat back up to the lauch and brought into Tracy's. Tracy and Claire got me back on the road again. They were very helpful...dropped what ever they were doing to help out. We lost an hour and I was wet from the knees down. Oh ya, also learned another thing...the black fitting on the shifter cable (near cup on the jet pump) needs to have a weep hole drilled into it. I guess this fitting can retain water and freeze.

Good news, we were able to get nate into a nice 9lb hen. The kid did a good job putting up with the weather and etc. Nate is becoming quite the fisherman.

Depends on the style shift cable you have. The better ones don't need to have this done.

Nice fish and it appears that she has all her fins so it is quite likely a natural rather than a planter.

Clare did mention that some where different. Just curious, since all outboard jet pumps come from the same manufacturer, what dictates what style shifter you get? I've got an OMC motor is its shifter cable different from other motor manufacturers?

I would imagine the cables are interchangeable. Maybe call Larry and check with him.
