Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to have a flurocarbon tippet on a regular mono leader. Can you get the two materials to join securely using a double surgeon or a blood knot? My idea was that a regular leader is alot cheaper than fluorocarbon and if I replace the tippet with fluorocarbon, I may get the best of both worlds.

thanks,

Jim

Yeah you have the right idea! Just use the flouro for the tippet! I would guess that a blood knot would be the ticket however that flouro is hard to tie with. Make sure you wet the line really good before you start.
I'm still not a big fan of flouro. but I'm going to give it a serious evaluation this summer when the Trout get selective about presentations on the Holy water!

You got the idea. I've been using floro. for the last 7 months or so and will not leave home without it. Becarefull with any knot, wet it down and snug it up slowly. I use it for tippet only, no point on wasting money. Once you become familar with it and it's characteristics you'll love it!
