You cant tell from the pics... but the seas were 12' rollers that day !! We were fishing alongside a bunch of other 31-35' Bertrams and they kept disappearing in the troughs.
the only thing that kept me from chumming was the non-stop action in the chair !
Oh yeah...the end tip roller busted off the rod (typical Mexican equipment !) about an hour into the fight with the 'bull. :yikes:

Nice fish! Man I love that saltwater! Can't wait till April. Bring on the sharks, jacks, snapper and most importantly, the BIG bones! I can hear that Penn International screaming already.......Pete

Decided to name the new place up-north the "Shark Shack"
wife hates the name

Sweet Mike.
I have some mustad 12/0 circle tuna hooks around here somewhere......Big enough?
how does a 12/0 compare to the one in photo #4 above ?
I want to put one in his jaw with a section of heavy wire leader like we were fishing with. (3 1/2" -4" from eye to bend ??)
Sounds like an 18 or 20/0. You can frequently find them pre rigged with wire leaders on E-Bay.
Here Mike,
