I was fishing the Au Sable(Holy Water) Wensday April 19th. and the Hendricksons were hatching and the trout were rising. We really had a great day the fish were eager and we moved almost everyone we floated a fly over. The fly of the day was a#14 light hendrickson parachute. The hatch started about 2:30pm and lasted until 4:30 pm. Water temp. was still alittle cool (46deg.) So as it warms into the 50-55deg. range the fishing should get even better.
No kidding guys if you can get away nows the time!!!

That's exactly what I heard! 2:30 to 4:30 huh? I'm going to try to hit that action maybe Tuesday. Is it just certain spots or is the whole system popping?
Damn I only have like 4 Hendricksons left from last year!

Weezer, after we finished fishing we stopped at both Gates and the Fly Factory. We got the same report from Rusty(Gates)and Steve(Fly Factory)and that was that the whole system is seeing good Hendrickson hatches,Mainstream and both North and South Branches, also the Manistee(from M-72 to the CCC bridge)was reporting good Hendrickson action as well.
I plan to be back Monday and Tuesday so maybe we will bump into each other on the water. Good luck.

I was on the Rifle river today and the Hendricksons are starting to hatch there also! There aren't a lot of them yet but the fish are feeding. I also saw BWO's and Caddis. It looks like this is going to be a great season!!! :)
