I talked with my Dad yesterday, and he lives on a small lake in Baldwin. The lake was completely froze over, just not yet safe to go out on. Last year we were ice fishing on Hamlin Lake the 22nd of Dec. and getting limits of gills.:fish:

lakes here in lewiston are all froze but only an inch and the bad part is we got
8" of snow yesterday and they are talking about rain Sunday & Monday turning back to snow monday night

We have a bit of skim over here on some of the shallower lakes. Unfortunately it will all be wiped out early part of next week. Still a good start though.

I can hardly wait! the lakes here have no ice. the smaller ponds and swamps are freezing over. supposed to be a warmup though. hopefully soon the ice will form.

I am going to take a long nap and when I wake up it should be time to head out on the ice. No, but seriously I wish that was possible because this waiting is killing me. It is really the only season that I look forward to and it seems like it comes and goes so darn fast. If the weather would just stay like it is right now we would be out next week, but of course the warm weather is just a couple of days away and my hopes of early ice seem to be diminishing quickly. I know if we don't get ice soon that my wife is going to end up kicking my butt, because it's all I can talk about. Come on ice!

Funny stuff.....I work for a Japanese company and I often think to myself....work harder, Young Grasshoppah!

Apprentice....I know exactly what you're saying. This waiting crap is killing me. I was out hunting the other day and was more excited about going to the local lakes in the Rec Area that we were hunting to check ice thickness than I was to be in the blind hunting. Oh well. My wife and daughter are also going to slap me the next time the words ice fishing come outta my mouth!

Went to the Conservation Club on Muskegon Lake, knocked a hole in the ice (while standing on the dock), jigged for about 20 minutes w/o a hit...but man it was good.
