I'm looking for recommendations on places to stay, a guide to use for a day, if that is necessary. We have all of our own equipement, I mean we have it all. But, I need some gps coordinates or how to get a map if available. Any info would be greatly appreciated. We are thinking of heading up there January 14-17, anyone interested in going let me know.

most of the time if you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle...you can go out in that....If you wish not to and want a guide...try Mark Palozza ( Hawg Heaven) or Chief pampinoe......you can go on a search for Bay de noc and find them....if you have any trouble shoot me a pm...I can give you chiefs #...and or a few gps#'s...try this out for guides... www.baysdenoc.com

Make sure to stop by bay view bait and tackle between Gladstone and Escanaba. They will have the latest reports and have all the supplies you might need including a hot spots map of the bay. I would recommend Capt. Ken Lee of Sallmarresort as a guide. They also have a motel in Rapid River and have a website www.sallmarresort.com with all the latest reports. Good fishing usually starts north in the bay and migrates south as good ice progresses. Bay de noc is truly spot on the spot fishing for success. Going with a guide the first time out would be a good idea. There is usually a lot of traffic and commotion on the ice, especially weekends. Avoiding that is a big secret to success.

Bring a power auger. Be cautious of unsafe ice areas, especially if you plan on driving out. Trucks go through the ice every year.

As far as lodging, there are many good places between Rapid River and Escanaba to stay. I prefer the mom and pop drive in places where you can park your vehicle and gear right by your door and you don't have to worry about carrying your minnow bucket through the lobby to your room.

http://www.baysdenoc.com/fishing-reports.shtml This is the offical bay denocs fishing forum and WOW is it very informative I go there almost every day to keep up on the walleye fishing down there. There is alot of captains down there who fish it on a daily basis and arent stingy as far as helping someone out for the most part
