Wow! They managed to fit one more dampener on the cable guard and lop 2" of the A-A. The old 2 dampener cable guard most of been really loud for them to introduce a model with 3! I bet it's a real shooter now!
All in fun Mathews guys, all in fun!
I'm sure they have something up there sleave, that couldn't have been it!

Oops, how'd I manage to miss those dampeners in the the string silencers! Pretty soon, those boys at Mathews will find a way to mount a single cam and a rest on one big dampener and then we will have smooooth!! ;)

See if you can shoot the 30" before you make the switch. Most folks shoot much better with a draw length thats a tad short. A draw length that is to long can really play havoc with your form.

I shoot an 05 Switchback and to say the least, I'm not impressed on what Mathews is doing this year. Should have listened to us and brought out a 36" hunting bow.

I too will stick with my 05 model.

I'm looking at the Switchbk as a possible replacement for my 8yr old Darton double hatchet-cam.
I pulled a friends' SWBK that was set at 70lbs and marvelled at how much easier it seemed to be than my 58# Darton. And, the hold was easier also.
My friend knows nothing...cares less...about speed and KE --"it's fast enough".
So, let me ask you guys: Do you get 1:1 on Pull vs KE, that is, I pull 58 on my Darton and get 58.5lbs on my KE. Will the SWBK do that? How close can it come?
What are you getting?

That's a very interesting question Fairfax.
If they're not bluffing....
IBO of 315fps. That's a 350 grain arrow at 70lbs and a 30" draw.
KE is just over 77lbs.
That's a pretty light arrow for 70lbs too...lottsa energy lost. I bet you could get close to 80lbs of KE from a 70lb bow if the arrow was a bit heavier.
They're a LOT more efficient now a days.

Well, I shot the switchback xt yesterday.
75lbs, 29" draw, nothing on the string, 518 grain arrow, 260fps = 78ft/lbs of KE. That'll blow through anything. When dropping to a 491 grain arrow it only generates 74lbs of KE. The heavier arrow really put it over that 1:1 hump.
However, in my opinion it draws like a bear, has no valley, the string angle is very steep, and there is not a solid wall...too much play for consistency. Not a real joy to shoot either. They still haven't been able to reproduce the smoothest drawing legacy max cam yet on their newer models...when are they going to actually make a step forward?

I shot the new switchback today too. I think that it is a great bow. But will it replace my legacy??? I'm not sure. I wonder if I could just put the new cable guard with harmonic dampners and string supressor with harmonic dampners on my legacy. That way I could have the best of both worlds.
hey. is it any better than the 05 model.? i bought one just before the opener. i really can't imagine how they could improve it but i am sure they did

I don't think it's better than the original SB. Neither does the shop owner who got the bow. Those extra two inches of ATA that the 05' SB has makes it a lot more forgiving bow. Shock is the same, quietness is the same, but the 05' SB is faster and has a better start into the draw cycle.

Yea they have really come a long way this year! actually they really dont need to ever come up with anything new. why should they? they already have millions of people brainwashed by there advertisements, and by second hand(I have a mathews I am better than you.....I paid 800.00 for this bow attitude) have you ever dealt with mathews customer service? It really leaves somthing to be desired. now when you buy a new mathews, the dealer has to fill out your warranty card and send it in. they dont want anyone selling a bow second hand and not having someone else get it repaired without a huge cost. and by the way- they jacked the price of the xt up like another hundred dollars.....? must be worth that for a little peice of rubber. The new hoyts have a lowered there price. I wonder which one I would buy. (the hoyts shoot better )

I can't. Oh well, It probably wasnt worth it anyway.
Mathews folks brainwashed??? Naww we just know a good bow when we shoot it. The Hoyt stuff is nice. But I am a Mathews guy.
