I have posted this question on many Forums for the past two years! I'll try once again.
Does anybody know of any fly tying classes in the tri county area? I am mostly interested in dry flies since I already took steelhead, nymph and streamer classes.
I know that most of the classes are offered in the winter but I'm too busy then!
If ya don't know of any classes: What about a really in depth video or CD Rom?
Please help! I won't be truly happy until I'm catching Brookies on my own #20 BWO's!

The ART of FLY TYING interactive CD-ROM has basic dry flies. It also has video demostrations on how to tie in the different parts and materials. I bought from CABELAS for about $20. It's a great tool for learning how to tie flies. I think you would like it. Hope this helps you.

WEEZER, I learned mostly from books. I'm sure you already have a lot of them. I think the only way to learn some of the "tricks" would be one on one classes. I know some flyshops offer classes right in their shop.

weezer,
I think that Little Forks Outfitters(517-832-4100) here in Midland have fly tying classes. Talk to John Van Dalen.

Hey Classicrod, do you think John would do a private lesson? I have talked to him a couple of times but all of the classes he offered were in the winter! I have too much going on then to take an extra class!
I just have a major problem with the Hackle on dry flies! It would only take like a hour or so to pick up the stuff that I need help with.
Also I did some research last night and The FLy Factory does some one on one lessons for $25 an hour! That's too expensive! I paid like $40-$60 on a classes before but they were for 10+hours of instruction.(Then the fly shop closed before I made it to the dry flies)

Weezer; I talked to John and yes he does give private fly tying lessons, now for the bad news, he charges $50 per hour the same as his fly casting lessons. Makes that $25 from the Fly Factory sound alittle better doesn't it.
You might also try Mark McKeliep at Franks Greater Outdoors in Linwood. He runs the Fly Fishing dept. and I think that he might also give fly tying lessons.

WOW!! It must be worth it!! I'm trying to get ahold of Mike Bachelder(From Spool and Fly on the Rifle river.) If that doesn't work out then I guess I'll head over to Little Forks. WOW $50.00 an hour! Maybe I'm going into the wrong line of work.
Thanks for the info guys!
