Have any of you guys had any trouble with these bows? The reason I ask is because a friend of mine has had nothing but problems with the Oneida he bought last year. The first problem he had was up north he was practice shooting and all of the sudden his string breaks, Freaking out because how can he fix this in time to hunt. So since our cabin is only 30 minutes from Jays in Clare, he takes it there and they put a new string on it and said that all they will do, so he goes to the Oneida headquarters in Marion the next day and he talks with the owner and is treated fine and they retune his bow and everything is fine in dandy. Well that was about 3 weeks ago and yesturday he is in his stand and draws his bow and SNAP!!!! there goes a cable. Well he went and bought a hoyt that day and is done with Oneida. It is kind of sad though because that is all his grand-dad and dad and he had ever shot is Oneida bows sounds like the tradition was broke this time. So I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Never had a problem, been shooting them for 10-12 years. I even get a new one at least every other year or each year. You would think I would have got a lemon by now if there was problems. Could he have done something to cause these problems.....knicked the string with a broadhead? Cables break, but not that often. Maybe adjusted the poundage incorrectly, bow timing off?

Lots of thing to consider. Maybe it was a bad bow but I don't hear of it. Oneida has had its haters and its got its lovers. They scare many guys with the looks of the bow, but easy to work on.

kingfisher,

That's what we thought at first when it happened, maybe he nicked the string, but what I doin't get is that he took it to the headquarters and retuned it, then the it breaks again. He had never had any problems with the bow or any of the bows he used in years past. And like I said his dad and grand dad have always used Oneida's. Maybe it was just a bad bow. Thanks for the reply

Alot of truth in that statement !

No problems with my Oneida ESC. I also had an H250 back in the 80's..no problem there either.

I have a 1994 Onieda Eagle Aero Force... I don't shoot it any more, but I did for 7-8 years... That is one sweet shootin bow... I did have the timing cables break once, but I replaced them myself and really havn't had any other problems other than that... And the reason they broke was, I shot at a deer and the lower limb hit my leg... They are actually very easy to work on... My guess would be the second cable had a fault in it... Strings are going to break if used for too long, but a replacement breaking, there had to be a fault in it...

Did both strings break in the same place ?????, I've been shooting Oneidas since the early 90's and have never had a string break. If they broke in the same place there is a reason that its breaking (bur on the limb tip-maybe something to do with his release) that sort of thing. Too bad he bought another bow without finding the reason first, but I can see his side also. If you can get the bow from him and come join our site www.Oneidaeaglebows.com (http://www.Oneidaeaglebows.com) When they are right IMHO you wont find a nicer drawing and shooting bow anywhere.

I have always had great luck with Oneidas. I continue to try other bows, and then buy another. Great company too.

What does your buddy want to sell his Oneida for?

It was my bow that everything had happened to and I still love they eagles, I do. I think the main reason I bought a new one was frustration. Having it go down on me twice at the prime time of the year was just enough. I really like the fact that you could do all the work yourself, it was nice. I think it was just a bad seed. Like my buddy said thats all the family has ever owned, ever. Grew up in upstate N.Y., my Grampa new the original owner. Never once had a major issue throught out the years with them. Kinda sucks, maybe one day i will go back. I just had my fill this year.
