Is this one of those things they say is designed to catch more fishermen than fish?
Does look somewhat interesting though. I wouldn't mind playing around with one for an afternoon just to see how it would do. I've seen the slammers (or whatever they're called) before used to catch trout, but never thought anyone would try this for perch...

I'm not really a gadgit man myself. But a friend of a friend makes them, and I thought I'd get them seen by a few people who might like this kind of thing.
i'd prefer to feel the tug of a nice perch.

I would think you would take most if not all the spring out of the trap :p

I don't know about the mouse trap, but the rod holder is pretty neat. Most of the commercial ones seem to always be at the wrong angle or height or something. I have a bunch of left over pcp, I might have to try something like that.

If you like that one here is a one in four rod holder. the first photo can be used as a tip-down type rod holder. or an auto (wind) jig rod holder ... the second one is a plain rod holder and in the center is a plain rod holder .

I was wondering when the ole windjigger was going to show up again. Saw that last year. And being the type of person to try just about anything once, I made 3 of them without the sails. Made them alittle lighter,3/4", and a complete square frame without glue. That way I could TWEEK'm if I needed. The guys out on the lake thought I had lost my mind until they saw the bobber go and then the rod tipped to the hole. Another crappie on the ice. And they jig pretty good without the sail. In a good breeze they will slide on bare ice so I drilled in 4 2&1/2 wood screw for cleats, fixed that little problem. But they do work.

I was under the impression that a device that SET the hook was illegal.Guess I was wrong.I was using a mouse trap TYPE thing for perch on Lake Eries Brest Bay when we got checked by a CO and he told me I could'nt use them.

I'm not sure if you can use them to set the hook, but isn't that what a down rigger does? It basically sets the hook when it released from the ball. I hope that it is legal because trout slammers have been used all over the state by many well respected and legal fishermen. Very cool designs on those pvc rod holders. I can't wait for the hard water.

NOW...
If you can cook up one that:
Gherks 'em , JerKs 'em , fillets & SkinZez 'em , then dredges them in flour and THEN flips 'em into some 30Wt. for three minutes and THEN drags 'em onto a paper plate & puts a dollop of tartar sauce nearby.....
I'd say :
" I have got ta get me one 0' these!!!"
Especially if it would retail for $39.95....

The pond along at the corner of M-53 and 26 Mile was froze over this morning. Won't be long now if this weather keeps up.
