I read all these stats in the Mathews and Hoyt catalogs about their bows winning the majority of archery competitions. Mathews claims they have 41 out of 60 victories while Hoyt claims the same in their catalog. What's with these claims. Someone is lying. Does anyone know the real truth? What about some other brands. The reason I'm asking is that I'm switching to a new bow after this fall.

Hoyt won all the ASA events
Mathews won some senior pro in IBO events and Hopkins took IBO worlds
Dave Barnsdale took vegas
PSE (nathan brooks) took NFAA worlds
Hoyt took Atlantic City

Of the two adds I'd say Mathews is diggin into the semi-pro and open classes to get their win totals higher as Hoyt pretty much dominated the 3d scene this year in the pro class.

HOWEVER, look for PSE to start kicking some more **** as they just signed two of Mathews Major shooters(Tommy Gomez, Bobby Eyler) and Hoyt's premier shooter in Chance Beuboff. Add them with the Dynamic Duo of Nathan Brooks and Eric Griggs and they're new line-up for '06, which is swwweeeet, I'd say they're the company to beat this year.

Besides, If you're looking for a new bow I'd look at the PSE Mojo 3-d. It's their top of the line bow and they're retailing MSRP for 650.00, as well as including a dozen PSE carbon force pro(like 130.00 a dozen arrows) with the purchase for free.

PSE realizes that most companies are pricing way to high, and they're keeping the quality higher and the price lower to chew into the market. They're looking to make a run this year, and I don't think they'll be disappointed.

Do you think Hoyt gets more victories because more and more people are shooting them or are they actually better bows. I'm looking for the best blend of speed, quietness, smoothness, and forgiveness. I was impressed with the Switchback, but I haven't tried anything else. I'm interesed in trying that new Hoyt Trykon, 316 fps. That thing smokes.

Actually Mathews shooters outnumber everyone like 4-1. Mathews is the company that has the card deck stacked in thier favor.

I believe that for every non-mathews shooter in pro levels there are three Mathews shooters.

They all make bows that are capable of winning tournaments. Chance B who was with Hoyt is one of the top shooters in the country....and my guess is he will still be one of the top shooters in the country with a PSE in his hands.

Mathews started the tournament win thing in their ads, others have followed.

Don't use the ads as a barometer for which bow you should buy. Shoot em all.....from Darton, Martin, PSE, Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, Pearson, Browning, Relfex, Concept, Wheerler, AR, Diamond, Oneida, etc. Your sure to find one you like more than the rest....but you might end up liking a lot of them! It is not an easy desicion today, so don't rush it.

It's a very tuff decision.

The competition wins wouldn't factor in my decision. The reason being is that they are some fine shooters. I am sure that Wayne Gretzky would still hold all of the NHL records if he switched Skate brands. He was one heck of a player.

I love my bowtech, my buddy loves his mathews, and another friend likes his reflex. So it is up to which one feels the best, but since I am never wrong I would go with the bowtech. :D

No, I realize your bow is only as good as the shooter and there are many good shooters. I was just wondering what bows actually do well in the competitions, because so many claim they dominate the competition.

P.R. work. They both do very will in this arena, Spend lots of $ on advertising and then pass it on to the customer.
Its like golf, I have a very low handicap and can beat people using there clubs or mine. Its the form not the function.
Pick up any bow today and most will work great. Just pick one that fits your needs. As in Golf all the experts say the club just has to fit right and look good from the golfers perspective to work for them. Perception is worth 60%.
All that being said I shoot a parker. They flat out stand behind thier product and they work. Plus my budy is the rep. Before that I shot a Reflex and was thrilled with it and probably would still be using it.
BE THE WOLF NOT THE SHEEP.

Oops, I knew I left some off my list above.....Parker was one of them.

Hey Lumpy, tell your buddy to suggest WOOD grips on their whole bow line! I like the bows, but hate the grabby rubber grip. A nice smooth laminated wood grip might just be the ticket. Just a friendly suggestion!

Whoever can afford the top shooters will do the best. Simple as that.

My understanding is Mathews went and "bought" a bunch of these top shooters from Hoyt. Now some of these shooters are going back to Hoyt.

As stated above, I will select a bow that feels good to me, not just becasue 41 tournaments were won with brand X. I see the same stuff in the action pistol arena that I shoot in.

Shoot a Hoyt and then a Mathews... You'll put the Mathews back... Talk to service shops about them and they will tell you Mathews are not a favorite... Mathews like to frequent sevice shops for various reasons... But like anything, It's really a personal preferance... Shoot them and see what fits you and you like...I shoot a Hoyt UltraTec... It bloody rocks!!!!!

Seems to be a lot of Mathew's bashing going on this forum recently. No biggie... As you said XArmy, "it's really a personal preference." I went to my shop thinking I wanted a Hoyt, but on the recommendation of someone from the Archery Outdoors forums, I went in with an open mind, shot four different bows, and left ordering a new Switchback. The Hoyt actually came in third place. Again, as you said: "It's really a personal preference" whether one shoots a Mathew's, Hoyt, PSE, Martin, Oneida, BowTech, etc.... http://img343.imageshack.us/img343/8538/iconsmilepeace2sc.gif

Same here . I shoot the bow that feels and shoots best in my hands , regardless of 3-D victories .I'm the type of person that doesn't jump on the bandwagon for latest "fad" models .
I kinda like the looks and specs of the Ross bows .Whisper Creek also makes a nice bow if they can ever find their niche in the market . AR , Bowtech , and PSE are great bows too .

So it's hanging with your friends switchback which is 5 years ahead in technology? Sounds like Mathews hasn't made any ground in the last 5 years then. Guess they can't see ahead anymore because of all that dust they're choking on by using old technology in the solo cam.
