Hey everyone, this is my first time posting here and I have a couple of questions. I know this is a long month away but my Dad (70) and my son (15) got drawn for the either sex hunt at Shiawassee (Federal) for 12/19-12/23. They applied last year and weren't drawn and were extremely lucky to get drawn this year. Here are my questions: I am worried about the snow that they may encounter does it get really deep in the ditches out there? Does the ditches fill up with water and freeze (they found a spot that they would need to cross the ditch to get too). My dad is getting up there in age, he still thinks hes in his 40's and tries to do things he probably shouldn't. My son, is 15 and 6'1" and 255 (highschool football player) so I am not too much worried about him. I am so afraid that they will cross that darn ditch and fall through. We were out there during the scouting time and found an area where there were about 200 rubs and we found two sheds an 8 and a 6 which we left there. The website states you can't remove artifacts so we left them. I have read a few posts on here about them taking a cart, I don't think they will be too far from the parking area but do they still need one? I am just a nervous daughter and mom even though they will only be about 25 miles from home I am still nervous as they don't know the area. We did meet a few other hunters out there who will be hunting the same time/area and I asked them if they would keep an out to which they stated glad to help. I was even going to go along and sit in the suburban while they hunted just to be there!!!. I am probably being silly aren't I:lol:

I have packed my son and I up for our 10 day hunt, we leave this Saturday. Hubby was asking why I have to go for 10 days and I said hey, you get Ocotober, I get November (we comprimise!!!) Good Luck to all~

Some of the ditches can be pretty deep. Caution needs to be used when crossing the ice especially at that time of year. Look over the map to see if the area they want to hunt can be accessed from a different way such as another road.

Thanks, I printed out the map and it looks like they can get in from another way. Thanks Again
