Since the heatwave rolled in this past week, the deer activity and sightings have taken a huge nosedive in the neck of the woods I hunt. Same thing for many of my work buddies. Just curious as to everyone else's luck. Seems like for me the little bucks had just started to chase, and the bigger bucks were getting interested then the weather change and POOF all done...

I have not seen a single deer since Oct 29th. It's like they just fell off the face of the Earth.

I agree. Saw does and does and more does, but no bucks. Went out this morning and after it got daylight, I looked about 20 yards from my stand and what did I find? A brand new scrape. I know for sure it was new because I went through there last night around 8:00 with the atv. That didn't seem to bother this guy, but he was gone before daylight.
This has really been a weird year. We usually have lots of rubs and scapes here but this year, we have scrapes and hardly any rubs. 4 or 5 on the whole place. Not normal at all. Also, I saw more bucks chasing does early in October than I have in November. But it's not over yet....

I have been hunting in Gratiot County with my dad and brother. We are seeing A LOT of deer. Last Saturday we saw 11 bucks in our morning hunt...including four big bucks. One big buck bedded down with a doe. All bucks but 2 small ones were seen chasing doe. Very active.

In Montmorency Co. 3 doe, and a button came in close Sat morning. Was waiting for the horns to follow, but to no avail. Sat evening nothing due to the adjacent landowners acting like complete (you know what's) and building blinds with a generator and power saws, yelling and tromping all over the woods right on the property line when they KNEW we were hunting near by. Sunday morning was rainy and windy but spooked up 6 more doe while tending some new stands.
Also like Backwoods said...I have seenmore scrapes than rubs. Early scrapes too, but barely any trees rubbed....very odd
In Kent County, I saw two does about 100yrds form me at the edge of the woods I was hunting and that was it. The night before I could hear them walking around me right after shooting hours, so i had to stay put until i didn't hear them again.
On a better note, the private land I hunt, the guy called me this morning to inform me that he couldn't make out horns at the distance, but he saw a big bodied deer and a smaller one this morning. Of course they show up when I'm NOT there.

I have seen more large bucks and less does and fawns in the last week of hunting. Hunting pressure may be a cause  , try changing locations, thicker cover, bedding areas, etc..... Good luck, Al

I usually poop out by the beginning of November........
BUT!
I have seen the most deer since I've owned this property. 3 years....
Had a Buckmasters Morning.....wish I'd a had the video camera with me.
1st, with 70 people viewing right now, isn't anybody hunting?????
Now is the time you want to spend as much possible time in the woods period.
The ole lady and kid got to see two going at it a few days ago.
They are still hanging around together and of the 3 possible bucks killed a scrubby 5 point this morning at 1100!

I just finished a week off and I think I took off the wrong week. First I had a very sick relative and it took away about 50% of my hunting time. However When I did get to hunt I saw mostley does (killing two of the 15 I saw) and two small bucks (4 pts both and let them walk). Niether of the does was being chased or seemed pressured on the properties I was on. They were with yearlings which suprised me as well.
However the magnus stingers I switched too this year did work VERY well they were easy blood trails of less than 75 yds total. And I have meet in the freezer, and two more hunts to go (friday afternoon and sunday afternoon) before the rifle opener!
I personally found it was slower than I expected for the first week of november.
Any one else fins it slow this past week?

Nov. 5th (Sat.) sat all day and seen three deer. Got to draw back on a nice 6 but he wouldn't offer me a clean shot. He stayed behind brush. Him and a doe I saw around 9:30 and I seen a lone doe around 4. Evening hunt got cut short due to lightning and thunder.

Shot a buck slowly following a doe on the 5th. Had one little one come by in the dark too. May have even been a yote. Didn't hunt much of the other 6 days so far. Hunting all day the 12th and 13th though.

I hunted Huron county last two weekends. Had 16 does pass within 20 yds of my stand on Saturday. I sat all day in the stand. Just before dark I saw something moving in the ferns 35-40 yds to my left. I thought it was a Turkey or something with white on it. I kept trying to figure out what it was when all of a sudden it stood up. It was a big 6 point that had to have been laying there all day while I sat in my stand. What I was watching was his rack moving as he turned his head. Couldn't believe it. He then proceeded to tear up a 3 inch diameter popple tree. Then turned and walked right by in front of me at 10 yds. Had to let him pass but drew on him two different times. Really made my day. He ended up rubbing a total of three trees while I could still see him. The ridge I am hunting had over 30 trees of various sizes rubbed. He is the only buck I have seen in a total of five days hunting there. It seems with all the does that the bucks would be chasing more than they are. By the way he as laying down wind of the main runway that passes my stand so I know he was scent checking vertually every doe that passed. They just aren't ready yet I guess.
