My 14 year old boy took his first Deer last night!
The Deer was running when I saw it first from my stand, when it got over by Jims stand I grunted loudly. The button buck stopped and then started walking, At 25 yards Jim took the shot. within a couple of seconds I heard him say I shot at one, I hit it. I told him that I would be over and we would go take a look. I asked him if he knew where he had hit the deer and he told me he saw the arrow hit right behind the shoulder. Then it ran a little ways and stated walking when he last saw it.
We quickly found the arrow which was covered with blood from tip to nock.
We waited about 30 minuets then started tracking. within 25 yards we had a good bloodtrail. We followed slowly I think it only took about 5 minuets to follow the trail to the deer, It went about 50-60 yards. He did a perfect shot about 2" behind the shoulder halfway up. After a couple of high fives He field dressed it with a little help from Dad. Then He did most of the draging the 3/4 of mile back to the car.
He gave me some ribbing about taking 8 years to get my first deer and it only took him 3 years :lol:
I cant argue with him about that I just told him that I was proud of him.
