Has anyone ever ice fished this lake? My uncle just bought a house on the lake and I'm wonderin' if it'd be worth my time, or is it similar to a typical Oakland Co. lake,( COMPLETELY STUNTED). Basically be looking for gills.
Thanks in advance.

I know that there is a good population of redears in there.

Some of the biggest gills I have ever seen have come out of that lake. I have never ice fished there but have caught plenty of redears. Leaches in the spring is the way to go. I'll be happy to show you how to slay the redears when they are on beds in the spring. If you start catching fish in the winter let us know and maybe we can set up an outing.

My experience out there tells me not to fish the swampy end for the gills unless you stay on the or around the island. Most of the gills were caught on the left side of the lake looking out from the state park and on the opposite shore. There is a gazebo out there and we killed the bull gills in about 12fow out from the gazebo. There is also some good bass fishing in that lake.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
