As I have been reading posts, I`ve been noticing some of you have the colest avatars and I want to find some. Can you direct me to a website that has them?

some of us have been around for a while. You just notice a cook picture somplace and decide to use that for a while until another one catches your eye.

duck butt above.
I found mine in a magazine for a printing paper ad. Scanned it and modified it within photoshop (cut out the background). Uploaded it and think it works well for me.

I used to know this one guy who used to take other peoples Avatar images from one site and use them on another. ;) Try a fishing or hunting forum from another state or something.
Of course its always great if you can find or make you own. I knew this one guy (no for real this time) who had made his own custom Avatar image that switched between his various trophy fishing photos. It was very cool, unfortunately I never looked into it enough to learn how to create something like that.
Whatever you do, never steal a mans Avatar and use it on the same forum or a forum that individual is known to frequent.

To get a flashing avatar of several pictures, use a program called Unfreeze (http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/)

Or you can simply use Paint.

Alright guys thanks for the help. I almost have all the pieces of the puzzle here. I have the Unfreeze program downloaded and I know how to convert file types using paint. My question now is how can I resize the images to a set pixel x pixel size? Can this be done with paint? I am using my work computer and do not have any photoshop or any advanced photo editing software like that.

I'm not sure about paint, but you can resize to anything you want with Irfanview!

Unfortunately my firewall is blocking the Irfanview web site as share ware. I wish I could get to it though it sounds like I would be in there if I could get that program.

Some of us make our own. I took my digital camera out on the ice one night and took some pictures of my vexilar. There are several programs out there to edit photos with and this is the free one that I use. www.irfanview.com (http://www.irfanview.com)
btw....Two of those green bars are crappies coming in for a look at my jig.

What firewall are you using?
Basilwilliam

Michihunter, Its not so much a firewall that I am using, I am using a work computer so its not by choise. If it was my own firewall I would just disable it, but thats just not an option.

Gentlemen I have finally created my first animated avatar. Check it out:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v443/basilwilliam/fishing/UnfreezeAvatar.gif
I am totally stoked with it, but have been disappointed to find out that it is to large to use here on our favorite hunting and fishing forum. Unfortunately we are only allowed 6.8kb for space for an avatar image so I wont be using it quite yet. I am trying to find out if sponsoring members are allowed more space as one of their bennies.
Thank you JDuck, Michihunter, Backwoods Savage, IY772, and Dedge for all your help with this. I have been wanting to create something like this for awhile now.

I just cropped the image so that once made small you would still be able to see the moose, and then resized it in The Gimp, all I had to do was enter one dimension in and it automatically fills in the other dimension to ensure proper scaling. The Gimp is a great tool. Just as powerful as photoshop, and it is free. Kind of a klunky interface though. Sort of XWindows like, but they are getting better. And I believe there is an add on out there so that the interface will look like photoshop, but I have not checked that out yet.

Yes. It's a bull moose following a cow that was in heat. They were about to mate when a small moter boat went by and disturbed them. They both crossed the river to the other side for more privacy. We were in a canoe and were trying to locate mateing mooses. We found success that day. ONe unique thing that I saw was when the bull thought we were too close it would take in an amazing amount of air to make itself large and then it would exhale and shake violently. It was really cool and I've never seen that in a video or live.
That bull was taken in Algonquin. I've got a ton of different moose photos from Algonquin. ONe of the best places in the world to view them. ;)
