I was just watching OLN and Expedition Safari was on. They had a hunt at this place called Timberghost. The deer were as thick as flies. And the bucks were enormous. Their website says they have more B&C and P&Y trophies within 100mile of that ranch than anywhere else in USA.
Are their hilly woods like that in Michigan because I'm not seeing them. It seems too much of our land is broken up by homes and cottages.

While I didn't see the show, I have to say that Michigan does indeed have hilly woods. Look for hills more in the Northern Lower and Upper Peninsula. In my experience, about the only area of Michigan that's really flat is the Southern Lower Peninsula.
For huge unbroken tracts of forest, look no further than the State and National Forest tracts in the Northern Lower Peninsula.

Timberghost ranch is on the Iowa-Missu. border. That southwest corner of the state absolutely rocks! I haven't lived in michigan long but have been a tourist for several years. Ya there are places i've seen that compare to that, Northern LP is close but the unbroken forest just isn't quite the same. I have seen land more like it around Allegan county and kent county, but these areas semm to have as many people spread through them as the entire state of Iowa(that's the biggest thing about hunting in Ia)
Not an expert but I was raised in southern Iowa and lived there 24 yrs.

NE Iowa is the same stuff. Allamakee county has the highest number of BC bucks in the state. I have been putting in for unit 9 the last 2 years hopefully next year is the year.

Timberghost has a fenced in part, HIGH FENCE, that is FULL of Monsters. They also have a guide service with some great hunting.

My Ex sister in laws husband is one of the head guides there. He also owns a premium guide service in Canada on Lac Soul for trophy walleye. He has two pretty cool jobs but for almost 9 months of the year he works from 4 am till about 11 pm 7 days a week! You definetely have to want to do it! Many of the guides at Timberghost got their start at the Sanctuary here in MI. Currently the Sanctuary is the big dog in the midwest as far as high fence operations are concerned, but Timberghost is close on their heels. And the properties they guide on outside the fence are pretty amazing as well....and you pay a premium to hunt it!
He and my ex sister in law have been hunting a booner for the last two years on their personal lease. They've both have seen him a few times and have some great game camera pics....I'm confident that one of them will score eventually.
Unfortunately (in a way anyway) MI has far too many hunters to ever become a big deer mecca like Iowa, but a guy can hope anyway!
