View Full Version : Thanks to our DNR.
Went to the Sharonville Shooting range this weekend to Check my Scope and Sites on the rifle and Sight in an 870 Express with a Cantilever barrel and Scope I had purchased this Summer. Since I mounted the scope myself I figured it would be a trying task to get it on the paper. At $10 per box of 5 shells It could have gotten expensive. My first two shots from the 25 yard did not hit the paper. As I sat trying to visually line it up and adjust the scope one of the range officers asked if I would like some help. “heck yeah if your offering” The gentleman Lined it up behind the gun while I adjusted the scope. After a few minutes of turning the adjustments he said “that should get ya on the paper”. Well ok lets try. 3rd shot hits high and left about 8 inches on the paper. I made the proper adjustments and the 4th,5th, and 6th shots were touching each other in the Bulls eye.
Granted only at 25 yards but should be cake sighting in at 50 next weekend.
If that Range officer (I believe his name was Mark) would not have gave me a helping hand I would have blew through 2 boxes in a heart beat.
I thanked him again as I left and he said he was happy to help out.
Just thought I would share a positive experience about the DNR and a gentleman that displayed great customer service.

I will pass your kind words on to Lt. Sherry Chandler who is in charge of the DNR ranges and the supervisor for the range officers.

I've got nothing but good things to say about all the range officers at Sharonville. They've helped me out a couple times but more importantly they keep things SAFE and well organized.

I will have to agree on customer service through the DNR this past week. I had called the local field office up were I hunt and being that it was a sunday I figured I would not here anything until Mon. which would of been ok but sunday night I get a call from a CO very suprised and he was very helpful he told me to call the Gladwin office for more info but he forgot to give the number. So I called the Gaylord office to get the right number at that CO was very helpful and gave me two contacts for the Gladwind field office left a message their and with a few hours he called me back with all the right info and he even said that he drove out to the public land that I will be hunting to get visual for himself. Which I though was great. If you were wondering why I was calling them is to inquire on select cutting that has been going on, on the public land I have been hunting was bowhunting this weekend and they started cutting again on sunday after I thought they were done. I asked the CO. if he thought they would be done for opening day and thought for sure that they would be done. :)

Good to hear more and more positive DNR posts. I think before peole just posted the negative and let the positive interactions go without passing them on to others.. I am glad to see the change here. I also have to commend the gentleman I see at Rose Lake for keeping the shooting going and safe so everyone can get their job done ina timely fashion "safely". Keep the positive going guys they are one of our strongest allies in this game.

Exactly why I posted. Many times we are less likely to convey positive interactions with others and only talk about the negative. Boehr can attest to that I am sure in his Day to Day complaints he receives. I just thought this gentleman went out of his way to help and I was very appreciative of it.
Boehr thanks for passing this on. I will see If i can send an email or letter also.
