wizard3686 ......I am sure one of the guys here will most likely move this to the law forum for boehr to answer but i will give my 2 cents.....To my knowledge the only time you can carry slugs is during the open season for deer so that would be the gun season only....It wouldnt matter who your grandparents are if a DNR Officer caught you carrying them what would matter is wether he beleaved your story or not....My suggestion is dont do it save your self the time and money it will cost you to go to court and pay court cost and fines its just not worth it.......take care and hunt safe and smart

Nothing wrong with carrying them. They can be used for other game besides deer. However, you can't have them in your possession during the 5 day quiet period preceding the opening of gun deer season, and of course gun deer season without a deer license.

Yotes can be hunted on a small game license.

One last thing, don't carry them if you are turkey hunting. Max shot size is 4.

Legal to carry but do you really think the coyote will sit there while you unload, dig out a box, open it and reload while bird hunting? The coyotes will most likely be long gone before you get to where they are.

I would have to go with skinner. I live here in the U.P and I spend many hours in the woods trapping, Bow hunting and bird hunting and I cannot recall every having the opportunity to have a crack a yot while bird hunting. But if you have the time maybe set up at the crack of dawn and hunt yots first and then go after the birds. Good Luck.

If you set up before you hunt and try calliing them in OK. I would set up with #4 buck or BB shot instead of slugs though. They can be somewhat used to cars and if you plan on shooting them out the window they may stick around. You show up in the woods on their ground and when they make you out they will pretty much high tail it out of there. Like turkey's see them in you car and they would not move for you. Hide in the woods or field line and watch what hapens!

Shoot them out the window? Of the car? Am I missing something?
Last time I looked, hunting from a vehicle was against the law. :bash:
Elk Guide, I think you were right when you said this should be in the law enforcement forum.

OK when I said this I was in a hurry at lunch :o . Not quite What I meant. What I meant to say is that sometimes Coyotes and Turkeys etc... are used to seeing cars and may not always run. Sometimes Turkeys don't even want to move out of the road much. Meet these same animals on thier own turf an no way will one stick around long enough for someone to unload bird shot and reload with slugs to take a close shot.
The shoot from a car window was sarcasim plain and simple. Too much reading between the lines. Sorry guys! After all it was titled Calling OK!
Another reason not to carry the slugs and birds shot together is a chance one may be loaded instaed of another once as yu said the box is opened.

Hmm Maybe if ya take the door off the car, and carry it around with ya and then see the yote you can have the time to change loads. After all they seem to sit still when you rin a car so how about if you look at em out a car door with the window down?
Isn't that leagal? Its just a new style hunting blind.
Don't forget to roll the window down though and Psst make sure they are not power or you will also have to carry a car batter and that gets really heavy. dont want no one shooting out their own car windows out of their new blind.
