A co worker took these on a recent trip. Any ideas? One picture has a camera case and another has a juice bag in if for comparison.

baby bigfoot!
Hard to tell, the tracks make up such a small portion of the photo and don't have much detail.
If it's a fairly round track and doesn't have any nail impression in the track then I'd say cat of some sorts, large house cat, bobcat at the largest. It's just hard to tell from those photos.

Alaskan Malumut (sp?) about 3 years old, 88, maybe 90 #'s. Has a slight limp in the right rear leg. Looks to be heading North, North East at normal pace. If the pictures were a little better, I might be able to gather some more info, but thats the best I can come up with at this point.

hard to tell from those photos, wild canines have a oblong shape to the paws and the toe nails will point straight ahead where a dog is round and toe nails poit out slightly, wild canines walk with one foot in front of the other where a dog will be side by side one just ahead of the other, a wild canine rarely leaves side by side prints

It wold be impossible to tell without knowing how old the tracks are in that snow. Has the snow melted at all since the tracks were made, as that will cause them to expand in size. Seen melting snow make a dog track look like a bear had been walking down the road. My guess is bobcat. mountain lion is much heavier and would have left a deeper track, also, from mountain lion tracks I have seen out west, I dont think they wouldbe so close together.

OK the snow was soft but firm. The juice container is about 4 inches long, camera case he said about six. Mark said he made a fist and could place his fist palm down and the track is still visiable. Mark stand 5'10" to 6'
There are a few older tracks but they are the same size and shape as the fresh one he took the photos of. How fresh, He saw them being made! Round and no claw marks.
I tried to make the pictures bigger but for some reason I can save them big but photo bucket seems to be resizing and they are not at max size?????
I'm holding back the location for now!

I`m thinkin` big Bobkitty. The tracks look muted as well indicating that after they were made the warmth of the sun widened them by melting the snow. Cougars tracks are much larger.

Like everyone says, it's hard to tell from the photo's presented.
But I might guess wolverine. It's probably to large to be a fisher, which would explain the lack of claw marks.
Is this even in michigan?

Tracks have not had enough time to melt. Well less than 1 hour old, some old tracks are also present indicating the animal has been there before. Mark saw the animal ran to his car after the encounter and returned with camera. According to Mark the tracks are 3.5" plus wide.
I will let the location out soon.

from what I can tell they look similiar to some 5 inch feline tracks that me and a friend made casts of almost 2 years ago in the deadstream.those tracks where identified by qualified people including a phd biologist. but theres no use saying it because a bunch of people around here wouldnt aknowledge one if it bit them on the a--.
can you make an x across the print drawing a line beyween the first and second toes and along the opposite side of the pad and the other half of the x between the third and forth toes and the other side of the pad without hitting the pad ?
are there any sisible claw marks?

Don't felines walk putting their hind paw in the same place as the front as they move forward? As in there would be no side by side tracks if this was a cat of sorts. Basically if it was a cat, it would be a single file line of tracks with nothing side by side.

I don't think there are wolverines in Michigan anymore...despite alleged sightings. Mabey the rotten smelling things are wolverines that have invincibility powers!

cats does both. sometimes they does put one foot exactly in the other. other times they leaves double prints...one right infront of the other. this all depends if it is moving fast or slow and what it is doin at the time.
looks ta me like it was loafin round drinkin a juice bag and trying ta take some pictures when along came a hunter and scared it away so fast it dropped both of em:lol:

Where are you coming from with the "alleged" sighting of a wolverine in Michigan? I'd say numerous close up pictures of the animal are pretty
convincing. That's like saying a person is an alleged criminal when he's
caught on video tape robbing a bank!
As for the tracks, they're from a large cat (no claw marks as you would
see from a canine such as dog, yote or wolf). Its hard to say at this
point how large a cat because one would have to really see the snow
to determine its firmness and better judge the size of animal.

From the size compared to the juice bag, and the rather shallow impression made, I would say Lynx.
If it was made by anything else, I would have to say cougar, but would think the impression would be deeper.

I was going to let it out earlier but with hunting and work was not on-line much lately.
Here is the story:
I work with a man who owns hunting property in Gratiot County. He was working on his property in February two years ago and decided to take a break. He went for a stroll along a frozen drainage creek. As he approached an old orchard where a second drain came in he noticed something crouching in the field. When Mark moved the animal moved...Towards each other. Mark thought at first it was a deer but when the distance closed to @50 yards and he was then clear of brush he said he realized what he was looking at and it scared the beegeebers out of him. When Mark identified the cougar, the cat also made him and made a big bound into the orchard.
Mark ran the 1/4 mile back to his car and when he calmed down he went back out with his camera and took these pictures. One picture shows tracks that are both fresh and old. At the time these were taken the deer were real scarce on his property. The cat hung around a short time the left the area and the deer returned.
Marks background, he has lived and hunted in Colorado., His parents live in New Mexico and he has hunted there. He has taken his share of big game and has seen cougars and their tracks in these states. He told me there is not doubt in his mind what this was and also knows it was stalking him as he was walking on the frozen drain.
Here are the pictures of the tracks. The expert who was on hand for the horse killing earlier also saw these pictures and identified them as cougar tracks.
I tried to make the pictures larger but photo bucket would not let me???? Additionally they are a lillte clearer in the originals whice I gave back so I was not able to draw the lines as someone requested.
I said recently to purposely let people think the pictures were taken out west and to see if a cougar was mentioned. I also wanted to see if anyone said cat after I printed the story changes their mind!

Looks like it might be a big dog. Maybe a big coyote. I havent ever saw a cougars tracks so I wouldnt be able to say that they are cougar. Where about were these taken, haven't seen any snow around me this year.
