Looking for suggestions and a picture to show the taxid. on how I want the mount. I'm thinking semi-sneak, slight turn right/left with one year forward alert and the other ear semi turning backward. Please post your best mount and maybe I and others can get new ideas etc.. Thanks.

I will go home and post some poses from some of mine. I like the semi sneak, with a slight turn, they look natural, but I also like to have both ears back. Sometimes I think what the deer was doing when I shot it. Just some things to think about!!

The mount I had done last year was a semi sneak with a slight left turn. I also prefer to have the ears pinned back as it helps show off the rack. Which way you turn the head depends on where your going to put it on the wall. If that doesn't matter, hold the rack directly in front of you (front forward) and slowly turn it to the right and then back to the left and decide which side of the rack you prefer...

Mckenzie has a new ( as of last year) pose that is a semi sneak right or left turn with head tilted slightly down. I don't have a picture here but you can go to Mckenzie's website and look it up. I think the model number is 64 D. The head being slightly down is subtle but very life like, it has quickly become my customers favorite pose. When ever someone sees one they request this pose.

I thought it might be but from the different angles the neck turned look way more in the bottum photo and the left front tine looked a lot longer in then bottum picture. But the brow tines and everything else looked exactly the same to me. Thanks for clearing that up. But it's weird how that left front tine looks like a totally different lenght from a differnt angle :)

Here is my only mount. I don't know what the pose is called, but I like the head to come forward more than this. I like the ears out, but it does make the spread look less impressive.

Have you thought about a skull mount? I almost prefer a skull mount. Easy to do and costs very little ($5 - $10).

It has been a while but I think I mounted this one on a McKenzie 64u semi sneek up head

I have a 64d I will take a pic of and submit it here
Take a look at the offset forms also. You get more of the shoulder on one side and less on the other. I just got a mount back from last year. It is a offset semi-upright sweep to the left. It looks really neat.

heres another look at the upright next to a semi sneak. hard to tell the difference with the size difference of the deer.

The Bottom Photo:
What a great photo that shows the difference between the size of a mature buck with a great set of antlers and a younger deer, though sporting a nice rack isn't yet mature.

I like the alert sneak from John Rinehart. I bought the mount kit for around $90 and did it myself. It isn't a professional mount, but it is as good as mounting the antlers on a plaque.

Have you given any thought to the look/position/posture he was in at the point of /or just prior to your release? It may help to relive the shot for years to come.... ;)

I do not need a pose to re-live the shot, hell its getting better and better everytime I re-tell the story!! ;)
I think I have the pose I want, semi sneak, ears semi-back with one more forward than the other, let side turn.
Keep the pics coming or suggestions will be a good post for others to search when its THEIR time.....Thanks guys!!!
