I hunt at my parent's place in clarkston on 10 acres in the back corner. I have seen deer twice in the last 5 sits and last night I saw the biggest buck i have seen in woods. I think it was at least a 8 and probably bigger. He was crossing the field towards the property, about 100 yds from me and then just stopped in the middle. totally relaxed but decided to turn around and go back into the thick cover. There is a school about 2000 yds away and there were kids out playing, yelling and screaming so I think that is what made him turn.
I also, saw a doe and buck come out about 200 yds away but turned in the opposite direction of me. the previous deer also crossed about 100 yds away but didn't come close enough.
I have a doe bleet can and a grunt tube which i tried to use on all of them but with no luck. I don't think my grunt tube is that great and would be willing to buy a new one if people have any suggestions.
I can't move my set up and am just trying to figure out what I can use to get their attention to come near me for a shot. I am open for any type of calls, scents.. whatever.
I do take some apples out a little bit of corn when I sit but I use it more for getting them to stop for a shot as opposed to actually attracting them.
Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks,
Dennis
