I've purchased from these guys without any problems. Their private label stuff isn't the best, but this is a military item and not a Guide Gear product, sound exactly like what you asked about.

I have several pair of surplus military snowshoes and like them as well as any others I have tried. The newer magnesium models are maybe not as nice to walk in all day as the long WWII style, but they work very well indeed. I think Mr. OB is referring to Pineview Surplus just north of Frederic on Old 27, which is the only surplus store between Grayling and Gaylord that I know of. Don't know if they currently have snowshoes in stock, but you could call them to find out - their number is: nine,eight,nine-three,four,eight-eight,three,zero,zero - ask for Dan or Chris, they're very nice folks to deal with.

Exit 264 [612] we hunt over near Lovells. Howvere looks like I need to find that shop and take a look too.

Just go west at 612 into Frederic, then turn north on Old 27 and follow it just north of the village about a 1/4 mile, you can't miss it on the right, a little motel and surplus store. They have military tents out front right now and a few surplus military vehicles in the drive.
