I had every intention of staying home today what with the t-storms predicted and a long list of honey do's still incomplete BUT.... I got up this morning and checked the radar and I knew it would be clean and green for at least a few hours. I worked hard yesterday moved all the furniture out of the living room and prepped the room for paint, went to my buds retirement party for a few hours came home and painted the ceiling. I every intention of painting the walls today BUT.....I couldn't resist this chance to get out and do some perching SO upstairs I went where my wife was sleeping soundly and very gently touched her shoulder and said honey....Yes Jim she said, uh uh they changed the weather forcast for today and..... Thats as far as I got, go fishing Jim she said. So off like a rocket I took, had the boat ready, lunch made a thermos of coffee and down the road I was in 45 minutes. Went out to the hole I did good in last weekend. Started out slow and was getting some little ones, then around 9 am started picking up some real nice fish. At around 11 a boat came by and was scoping me out from a about 100 yds away, after they saw me catch a few they headed right for me and anchored 100 ft away. I didn't let it bother me, by then the action was none stop and every time I caught a fish I would LOOK over at them and they were not catching anything. So when I caught a good one I would exclaim HOLEY MOLEY or HOLEY SMOKES and hold the fish up so they could see it. I think I drove those guys nuts   as they were still not catching much. At around 2 the bite slacked off and the wind picked up, then fifteen minutes later a great big gust of wind came threw and the waves started building so I took this as my warning to get the #### out of there so I pulled anchor said goodbye to my buddys  and boogied. By the time I got to the inner bay the water was quite rough 2-3 footers and building. After I got the boat out of the water went to the gas station all #### broke loose heavy wind and rain and I laughed and thanked GOD I was off the water. Didn't break any size records but I think the overall size was good quite a few 10"s and a bunch of 9"s and didn't keep any under 8" out of my fifty. Was a great day and can't wait till next weekend. Yellow belly fever I got it bad

Great Another post I'll have to hide from the wife. Honey Do's and fishing, all in one weekend. She thinks that is impossible ;)

Nice cooler of Perch. You just know that close boat had to try your spot :D . They will just blame it on the weather. It's fun when something like that happens.

Ed you have to be a multi tasker to get by in todays world  It helps to have a great wife who understands how important fishing to us guys. I am one of the lucky ones to be sure and I thank God for that. The perch fishing has been awesome when they are hitting. Overall size has been better than I personally have ever seen. Looking forward to October like I never have before it ought to be great. Where did you get those jumbo's in your photo gallery those are some #### nice perch I bet that was a lotta fun. Those guys that came kinda close really got what they deserved and I would never park that close to another fisherman, its a big lake lots of room no need to horn in on people like that. I wonder if they learned anything :D Larry hope you did well if you went out but I'm sure you will let us know.

Stinger I am sure theres enough for everybody took me about 3 trips to find some good holes. Do you fish Brest Bay in the winter? Been wanting to for quite a while but I usually get hung up on the Saginaw Bay. Have heard many horror stories about inconsistent ice conditions and machines going in the drink.Gonna take a drive down there this year and check it out would like to do some perching thru the ice maybe and a guy could probabley walk out there to do that.

Yes I have fished the breast bay and ice conditions well they can be very tricky at times with alot of currents and gas pockets I think.I ventured over that area a couple of times last winter of course like the majority of most people fishing that area I caught nothing but dinks and if I remember correctly I few machines did go down out there during late winter. There was even an ice flow that broke off with some people stuck floating around on or maybe that was somewhere else?Mike the elder fishes over there alot if I remember correctly,By the way Mike where are you and how have you been?

Great bunch of fish. Good luck next time. People that get that close always make me wonder if they know how rude it is or if they are just trying to have fun and don't even know its annoying? Good Job and thanks for the pix!

There really isnt a perch bite on brest bay anymore in the winter. i think its because of all the walleye that move in there
