Dude, I was just thinking about submitting a post about the Luna Pier walleye. I have never hit it right, but have known some friends who have pulled some hogs off the pier in the fall at night. The one time I did go it was brutally cold, almost the coldest I ever remeber being.

The coldest I can remember being was in Lewiston one "spring" hunting turkey while camping out of a tent for three days in sub zero temperatures. At the time I thought I was hardcore, now I thank God I did not freeze to death in a drunken slumber on one of them bitter nights. Needless to say I never even saw a turkey during that time.

my buddy went last week for 2 hrs. got 1 talked to a guy who has been getting an ocassional limit. this cold weather should bring them big time, the trick is to fish when the water isn't cloudy. a slight west wind is good. the best day we had last year was 8 fish 40 lbs. if the wind is right I will try thurs.

Jointed Bombers. Yeah! That's the ticket. Wish I could still find them in the "G" finish.

I'll Be Out Either Friday Or Saturday. I'll Post Results. Do People Catch Them Off The Rock Pile At Sterling?

I know guys that use to fish it late in the year and early spring before they closed the walleye season in monroe. Shad Raps - Huskey Jerks- Bombers...all the stick baits seemed to work. With the right conditions, clear water, light offshore wind, I see no reason why no eyes can be caught offa the Rockpiles...

I guess I'll give it another try this fall. My first time was about 5 or 6 years ago when the limit was 10 fish. it was unbelievable. In 2 hrs I had 10 fish on the stringer that went from 3 to 9 lbs. Could hardly drag the stringer back to the car with me. Never had another night like that. In fact, I haven't done anything the last 2 years there. Jointed red-head bombers were the hot lures.

Any one having any luck? I haven't tried Luna Pier, but have fished the Maumee River in the spring. Do you fish off the pier or in the water with waders? If you have any suggestions for spots to try, I would appreciate the help. I assume that you need a very long net, if you fish the pier?

Thanks

Fishing out in waders is the norm now. People do fish the pier sometimes, but the better fishing is about 40 yards out from the pier. The bend in the pier and the very end seem to be the better producing areas. I am sure nothing is happening there now with the N winds and chocolate water. We need some stable W winds to clean the water up. The drop in water temp really helps us by dropping 8-10 degrees! They should be pushing in and chase the baitfish once the water cleans up a little bit for us. Jointed Bombers and shallow stickbaits seem to be the best bait of choice. Redhead/White & Silver body -Blue/Silver - Pearl are a couple of better producing colors...Report back if you try it out some nite whether ya do good or not...

I checked things out on Tuesday night. About 4 other people were fishing for walleyes (wading) and 5-10 people were fishing perch off the pier. I caught a few bass, saw another bass caught and 2 walleyes were caught by others. I heard that 3 or 4 walleyes had been caught the previous night.

If anyone else heads out, let me know when things pick up.

Do you happen to know the size of the few fish that are being caught?
