Stop at the baitshop north of town, near Sand Point, they will give you the lowdown, as well as enough minnows for 4-6 fishermen for $5.00 for the whole day...Usually Sand Point and/or Oak Point are your options but sometimes the perch will congregate straight out in 15-20 feet...Put that fish finder to work...

Where is this Bait store in Caseville that gives you a good count on minnows and good advice on fishing locations. South of town ?? Sand Point is WSW of town not North. That bait store wouldn't be on Pigon rd would it?? the one that counts every minnow even the 1/2 " ones and gives you 15 for a dozen.

Sorry, got my directions mixed up, not sure of the name of the bait shop, been a few years since I've been up there...

The name of the bait shop is Walsh Gun and Tackle. They are on caseville road (which takes you to piegon). They are just south of the marathon station. I've heard that their minnow supplies have been tight lately (as the rest of the area) so that's why they may be conservative of late. They aren't normally like that, you won't find a better deal. Support them cuz there aren't any other sportsman shops like that in the area.

Was up there Saturday and went to Walshs for minnows. Got a decent count for the $$. Unfortuneately the winds did not cooperate. Pollywog and myself were out there first thing in the AM, went straight out from Oak Point in about 40 feet and were able to fish about 45 minutes (no bites) and couldn't take anymore, 5-6 footers made it miserable. Very rough ride back in. 1 other boat out there and he came in with us. 5-6 foot waves + nasty wind = "0" fish. The bait store Connor was talking about was sold and torn down and now sits a gas station/party store. So really the only place around town is Walsh's.

Clarence, The wind died down in the after noon around 2pm. Around 3 or so some boats started to go out. I don't know how they did but they were coming back in late almost dark. I was watching them come in off my deck.
Sunday on my way home , we left about 7:30 am, Caseville rd was full of boat heading into town so something must be up out there.
Anyway next time try Hoyt's marina in town for minnows they are bigger(the minnowws) and the count is much better . Try to get the teenagers to wait on you. You know they can't count in real life anyway so you know they dont know what a dozen is .You can drive up to their dock on the way out or drive to the store before you launch .(Not a lot of room to trun around if your boat is big.) If I'm staying for a few days I'll go to Sebewing and stock up on bait, they really give you a scoop full. Anyway just a FYI.
