Has anyone tried the Pro-Troll E-chip flasher?

Supposedly they have concocted a flasher with a devise that emits a small electrical impulse.

Being a sucker for any new gadget I bought a couple last weekend in Frankfort. Just wondering if anyone else has tried them.

we took a steelie on 1 last week. they are a good flasher but i am not convinced that they "call"fish. i was very high on them at first ,but we have done best on jkfr's. on lake mi. ,the large flashers have done much better than the 8 inch size. i have not seen a large version of the e-chip.this winter ,buy yourself some large bechold (hoochie mama) in white /cracked ice glow and green glow. also john kings mountain dew and black mamba's with matching cut bait heads or red heads for the black mamba.we have a red black cracked ice combo called the bloody crack whore that has done real well too.early season it seems that blue was hot too ,but more with spoons. hope this helps

Save your money on this garbage. I purchased two of them and had the tape come off them the first time I fished with them.

I have a couple I think they work ok I have caught good numbers of fish on them but i dont like how they pull harder then the other spins on the market.

I used them this year and had great success with them especially when the fish were deep!! Good Luck!!

Thank you all. I have two Echips, but based on everyone's advise I won't throw away my Hoochie Mamas, Spin Doctors or opti-dogers just yet.

Funny thing about the glow opti-dodger. I had three knock offs and later noticed scrap markes in the dodger. Could they be hitting the dodger and not the lure?

They all catch fish. I probably caught more on spin doctors but caught alot of fish on the e-chips too. They do work you just have to give them a try. The white with the glow tape was my best.

As a person with an electrical background let me just say...

From what I've read of the posts, the conclusion here is that the e-chip compares in performance to spin doctors and fish catchers (especially when the factory applied glow tape doesn't peel off after the first time's use of the product. Do please tell me why anyone would be foolish enough to spend almost twice as much money for a flasher that performs about the same. I stick by my earlier comments....

Actually, the Echip flasher cost a few bucks less than a Hoochie Mama.

I have seen them work and picked up a couple to try next year. They have a real wide roll which makes them pull harder than a regular flasher. I like the e-chip technology personally. I did well this year with the G-fly with e-chip, I only wish they sold the e-chips seperately instead of just on their products.

I have about 30 of them and they pounded the fish for us out of Frankfort. I also own around 50 beecholds and 30 spin doctors and this year all I fished was the echips. I don't think the chip has much effect on their catching ability. I have a bunch of them that the chip fell out and they still catch just as many fish. But Pro Troll was nice enough to send me a bag of 20 chips to replace the ones that fell out. Out of 76 boats in the GLPAA we had the 3rd largest catch second day and all we fished were white on white echips and green mirage flys. I think i pay around $7-8 per flasher for them. I haven't had much luck with the green or blue ones but the white with crushed glow and the solid white were fantastic this year in both small and large sizes.. And with all tackle..don't let them sit hanging off the back of your boat in the sun all summer....

Capt Jim, were those the Hot-chip or Pro-chip series flasher?

What length leader to the fly, how far behind the ball? They worked well for a few of my friends this summer, that's why I picked some up from Steve's for half off during his sale.

Thanks,

Tim
