Not trying to steal anybodies thunder here. But for you guys that haven't heard yet, the PWT championship at Milford Lake KS. was one tough bite. With both high air and water temps that compared to ours this summer on Saginaw Bay, the walleyes were in the same type funk ours have been in since mid-July. Many Pro's zeroed for all three days of the championship, and a three fish basket at the weigh-in was considered a miracle. The #5 Shad Rap's caught many of the few fish that crossed the stage for the 3 day event, with Purple/Pearl and Blue/Pearl colors being the hot ones.

But a new kid/lure on the block helped Chase Parsons capture second place at the championship, as well as the big fish prize on day three. It also helped reinforced his 2005 Rookie of the Year status. Chase used the new Dave's Ka'Boom Balsa Ruff Guy on day three and jumped from 6th to 2nd place on the final day. I haven't got the full scoop yet on the color Ruff Guy that Chase used, but will pass it on when I hear. Welcome to, and a very nice start on the walleye scene for both Chase and the "Ruff Guy". :p

I am beginning to think that with all the press he is getting here, some lure manufacturer should become a sponsor.

Good point Essox.

It's no secret that I'm on Daves Pro Staff. But one thing you might have noticed about my posts. No matter what or who's lures they are, I'll tell it straight and like it is, and I always will. This information is just for everyones fishing knowledge. If I'm breaking board rules by posting this, let me know and I will stop posting good info like this. If these new Ruff Guys don't work for me on the Bay next season, you won't hear another thing about them from me. I will always keep those standards in all the post and reports I have on the internet. As far as Dave spending money for advertisment space on this site, the sites managment might have success contacting Dave on his web site about that possibility. As my favorite news station would say, I report....you decide.

Dan, please keep up the great posts and info. You've always been honest in reporting what's hot and what's not, regardless of the manufacturer or your affiliation with them. I'd hardly call this an advertisement. For me, it's just great to hear that a Michigan made lure had some success out there. It would have been just as interesting to me if a pro out there had some success with Stinger Spoons or Walleyes Choice harnesses. It's simply a matter of rooting for Michigan manufactures. Go Michigan! Having said all this, do I think it would be a good idea for Dave's lures to become a sponsoring member?---absolutely.

I'm not planning on rushing out and buying up a ton of Dave's lure because of how it produced in Kansas, and I won't be rushing out west to fish, that's for sure. As a walleye fisherman who's constantly learning, this knowledge simply helps to reinforce good presentation ideas. When fishing with a tough, finesse bite, try downsizing, and going with natural colors.

Allowing (and encouraging) all members of this site--good fishermen, charters, pro staff, sponsoring members and non-sponsoring members alike to be able to post "tell it like it is" reports is what makes this one of the best sites out there. I'd hate to see us go down the road like another popular walleye website, if you know what I mean. Sure, you've got to draw the line somewhere out of respect to our sponsors, but I hope this isn't it.

Good fishin' to all.

JJ.

Exactly the points and intentions I try to make in any of my posts. One of the first things I make clear to any sponsors I ask, or ask me to Pro Staff for them, is that I won't lie about their product, and if it don't work for me, I won't be using it very long if it at all. In my business I can't afford or have the room to carry or use things that don't work. I've been excited before about new products that at first glimps look like they will work, but for some reason do not. If these are sponsors lures, so be it. My hype about any lure I've never actually used, is only about it's possibilities. And if it does work, you know you can count on a posted picture of the new lure hanging from a walleyes mouth in the back of my boat. As for Dave's Lures JJ, they're not a Michigan Made lure, but are made in Oklahoma USA where the old Storm Lures were made.

The minnow looks like a copy of the Tail Dancer. I have a few of those in my box but seem to always use my go to baits first. LOL Doesn't catch many fish sitting in my box.
