I don't know how to react....I have had permition to hunt two different farms in the Sand Lake area for the past 5 years, on Friday my hunting partner and I were notified by each of the farmers that we would no longer be able to firearm hunt their lands. One gave us no reason and the other was told by his grandson that he wanted the property to himself.

Granted, it is their property and they can do with it as they wish and we both thanked them for the years they let us hunt, but dang, only days before the firearm season is to start.

If they would have give us two weeks notice we could have found some other private land to hunt and even had the chance to scout some public land. Now I'm taking the rest of the week off from work to try to find a place.

I love the challenge of hunting whitetail, but this adds a new twist.

So, I guess, all I can say is...."Next year we Lease" (hehe).

Thank you for readinng my rant,

MIDH

GREAT NEWS...As of today(the firearm opener), I have gained a new lease. 550 acres with two ponds and 3 large wood lots.

All I have to do now is get the contract signed and I'll be hunting in style Next Year.

Life is good.:D

Glad to hear it. Need any partners? After sitting all day, We saw one doe. A very disappointing day.
Thinking that all the deer were in the corn, I sat waiting for them to come running out when the harvester went through. NOTHING.
Time to find a new spot.
Just venting a bit. I'm happy for your upcoming good fortune. Now you get to scour it for all the deer sign. Must be like early Christmas

MIDH, about the same thing happened to me this year too. My son and I ended up hunting Proud Lake. We didn't bring home any venison, but it was his first hunt, so the memories of him seeing a doe and being dive-bombed by a hawk will last forever.

Can I ask how much you are paying for the lease?

Good luck on the rest of the season.
