Well.... its been a interesting year on my many Simcoe trips the last few months. Overall the extremely hot water temps have resulted in less 5lb SM caught and the fish tended to move around alot. Here is a shot of a couple of University gals I had out on Simcoe last month....smiles tells all! :D :D

I just fished the Fall Challenge Bass tournament out of Orillia this weekend and managed to get into a few big fish. Here is a pic of 2 'donkeys' that was part of our 22.60lb bag on Sunday. The one on the right was 5.40lbs and took 'Big Fish award' for day 2 and missed overall BF by .02lbs.... ouch! Water temps still 69-71' in the main lake and we had to work hard for our bites. Jerkbaits, in-line spinners (#4 Blue Fox Blue/Silver and Gold/Orange) and tubes all caught fish working 10-17' of water. It seems that for the most part the SM were relating to any breaklines on the structure. Some of the flats we fished went from say 11 to 13' along the edges and that pattern seemed to payoff for us.

Also here is a pic of a couple of 13.5" perch I caught pre-fishing for the tourney. They hit a 1/2 oz Jigging spoon in 31'! Was working one of the main lake humps and as I moved out they were stacked up to 10' thick is some places! Kept a few for a meal and moved on as there was no SM out there yet.... water is just to warm and they have not started to migrate and move deeper.
