Help identifying Evinrude motor?

Need some help identifying the model and year of this motor. The model number was scratched so I read it as good as I could. It looks something like this:
E15RC1S

I know it's a 15 horse Evinrude, can anyone help me out with the year?

There's something wrong with that S/N but from the pic, I'm thinking mid to late 70's. Still working on it though.

JPollman, does the s/n help? It's E0007767.
The model is next to impossible to read The third digit (5) could also be an S. :confused:
model might be a 15RCLS ???

Ok, with that model number it looks like it might be a 1980.

If found a number range of 15RCS-15RLCS listed as a 1980 model year.

pull the motor cover and get the numbers off the welch plug on the block. its a small round plug say the size of a quarter and on that motor I belive you will find it on the same side as the shift lever. also look at the throtle linkage under the hood .around 82 they went to a cable.
