So if a novice walleye fisherman wanted to troll around, waste some gas, drown some crawlers and possible still manage to catch a few eater eyes, where would you recomend? I'm not trying to get anyone's "honey hole" (glugger) just interested in adding walleye to my fishing repetiour.

So where would you go within say, an hour or so of Grand Rapids??

Gun Lake (Barry Co.) would be a good choice.......a large lake with lots of room and lots of walleye! (pike and a musky or two, also).....I usually only fish it before and after the summer holidays!, it gets pretty crazy in the summer with inconsiderate jet skis!!!!!.....check with Rosie at Gillette bait for info. I have caught hundreds of walleye from there over the years, mostly on crawler harnesses, lots of eaters and the largest at 7.5 lbs.....pick up a Fishing Hot Spots map of the lake and go from there.....hope this helps!
