Well after seeing the mod deal i decided to go buy some heads and test for myself.
so i bought 80 grain and 125 heads
and some others i have laying around so my bow is zeroed in with 100 grain muzzys!
so i started with the 80 grain head 10 yds dead on no biggee we say i was using a new yellow jacket target
now my muzzys were zeroed a bit high. so the impact at 20yds was doa and talk about zero i mean dead on. zero so 30yds same thing 40 same thing 50 same thing! ok so they shoot well very well and i ruined 2 arrows shooting group at 30yds i mean no sunlight there so i put up a 1/2 inch sheet of board and blam right through. now in my yellow jacket i shot it and was impressed with how deep it went in! nice head and boy do they fly well like well arrows i have yet to find a head di have shot that shoots this well the 80s are awesome i can that i was overy impressed by there flight and build very tuff head

Penetration may be great, but I just don't like the idea of them opening up after they are through the hide. I'll stick with something that makes a nice big hole going in, as well as coming out.

Lol well i was waiting for that to come up it leaves about a 3/4 hole going in to my measuments. wait till you see the film of the cape buffalo taken last week in africa with it was down in 60yds.
it is believed to be the first one taken with a mechanical head.
awesome intrernal damage. now iam not sponsered by them i use a different head but iam pretty impressed by them so far!
the film and pics of the cape are to follow soon. theres 80 grain leaves a 1 3/8 comming out. or a 2inch or 2 3/4 inch on the way out the report on the cape was 2 ribs sliced through!

Well, that isn't too bad. Don't get me wrong, not saying they aren't good heads. But I've been using my Wasp's for 10 yrs without a problem. Might be worth looking into. I spent quite a few years messing with ML bullets to find a good one. Maybe time to experiment a bit with broadheads? ;)

As most may know, I'm one of the very outspoken opponents of this head here on this forum. I just plain dislike the design...mainly the opening after the ferule is through the hide and rib cage.
Deputy, being a sponsored shooter for a fixed blade head, I'm going to take your little experiment into merrit.
I'm really considering something here...but first, I need to know...How was the penetration into the yellow jacket (great target by the way) compared to the Muzzy's?

As we know a target is not the best test media. but i can say this in a side by side my 100 fixed head and the 80 grain mech were about as close can be in the yellow jacket now i was aiming at to very unused areas of the target to try and be fair. i shot another hunk of wood last night and measured a hole that was about an 1- inch across made by the head and the trip levers.
now i will say this i shoot my sponsered head i love them for sure. now i have never been a fan of mech heads period! but i have been comming around at some 60yd shooting did help i feel at longer ranges the fixed head has more merits for sure and always will but then again i dont shoot at deer past 35 yds personal thing i jsut cant imagne the amount of intreanl damage that those blades would cause i know i would gain complete penetration with my current set up.
the mod test is what really fired me up on this i had to see for myself call it pre season need another thing to do
